    You're the first person I've seen who advertises land as being "Expensive". Not a term I'd use, it has negative connotations in this context.

    Can you provide more information about the network traffic in question? (e.g. dest. IP address / port?)  Perhaps the Halliburton Company previously used an AWS IP address that is now in use by LL's cloud infrastructure but I'm just speculating. With IPv4 addresses in short supply, it is not uncommon for them to be re-allocated to different entities. 

  10. I recommend Alchemy. It has a much cleaner UI compared to Firestorm, it also boots up much quicker and I get nearly twice the FPS than I do when using Firestorm. I can also max out my graphics settings with a draw distance of over 120m without hitting performance issues. - Can't do that in Firestorm but of course that's just my experience. 

    Alchemy doesn't have all the same features that can be found in Firestorm but for me, the benefits far outweigh the cons. I'm just surprised more people aren't aware of it. 

    For reference, this is on 1 year old mid range gaming laptop with a Intel i9 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti GPU.

    It does but LL know that there's a lot at stake here. - The mobile viewer has to be good and live up to expectations. If LL get this right, they're in effect paving the way for a successful future. Get it wrong and it could be brand damaging, especially given the "metaverse" concept has received a lot of bad press recently. 

    It's not like Speedlight in as much as they can't just develop a half arsed viewer with limited functionality/clunky UI and be done with it. -  It has to cater for everyone while providing an experience similar to that of the desktop viewer, albeit without the need to be tethered to your laptop/PC.

    Also, merchants who intentionally deceive buyers should have their shops removed from MP.  Example of this are merchants who sell realistic textures of a vase, etc, but intentionally don't mention it's a 2D texture/image and not a 3d object. I've been fooled by this a couple of times.  New folks can get totally scammed by this malpractice.  Merchants get notified and their shop is removed until they add an appropriate and truthful description.

    Also, with the exception of sounds and scripts and possibly animations - but not poses, all merchants should be required to provide a clean accurate visible image of their item. No pic, no listing and their shop gets removed until they add an image/images.

    And the keyword abuse needs to stop.

    When shops are flagged/reported for this, LL should remove the store until the merchant fixes the issue.  

    To help merchants with accurate descriptions and keywords, LL should provide a list of accurate key words and numerous examples of how to list items and how to use keywords accurately and merchants should agree to this via MP TOS.   If they abuse this, their shop is removed until they fix the issue.  

    LL could work with creators and residents to create a library of visual references that covers all types of clothing, shoes, hair, cars, architecture, animals, etc,.  I've been collecting fashion infographics for my own education and amusement.  This would be really helpful for both inworld and marketplace shops and residents.  

    Let's say I might want a vintage victory rolls or Dorothy Hamill hairstyle but don't know the accurate term to search for those so and having a place that has images and names of hair styles as well as for clothing, shoes, furnishings, architecture, etc. by era and style would be amazing to look thru and get correct info.  This would also  help inworld stores in describing their products accurately and organizing better.  And it would be brilliant for MP.   There is sooooo much fabulous schtuuuf in SL that making it easier to discover things would really make SL so much better and increase sales and user engagement.  SL can be a huge time suck when you are trying to find things inworld to on MP.  And when people get frustrated, they won't buy thing and/or just leave.

    I realize some items have crossover use and may have keywords that bring them up in different categories but as others mentioned above, keyword abuse is a huge problem.  I should not see dozens of listings for a shop's crappy clothing come up when I'm searching for baroque porcelain vases. 

    LL could retool MP to make certain things mandatory before uploading such as is this a texture or an object. - use the same basic system categories as the inventory for the first  level, then mote accurate descriptions to follow.   I realize this exists already but before a merchant can even get to the next levels and categories, they have to do this  first category assignment.  This would prevent people from intentionally mislabeling their items and knowing if they do misrepresent their merchandise, their shop gets removed until they make the correction.

    Maybe merchants should be required to do a test course like you do before uploading mesh so they understand if they can't list their products accurately, their entire shop will be removed until they fix the issue. 

    I do think the excluding merchants - a blacklist like tool like we have on our viewers - would be awesome - so you can add/remove shops easily to refine searches,

    And bringing down the hammer on keyword abuse, deceptive practices, no images and spam would vastly improve user experience.

    Wasting shoppers time by trying to scam the system is not okay. Making MP more user friendly will make it easier to find and purchase things and increase sales which is a win/win for everyone. 

     

    I get your point but it sounds more like a workaround to fix something that is fundamentally broken. You shouldn't have to exclude things to find what you want, that would be bad logic. Imagine going to a store in real life and having to tell the clerk all the things you don't want to help try and find what you do want. It would soon get tedious. Ultimately the whole thing needs redesigning from the ground up.

  13. The MP needs to be destroyed and completely redeveloped from the ground up. 

    I just cannot fathom why it has received so much neglect when it is one of the main gateways for commerce on SL.

    In the past I'd buy things to update my avi only to inspect the item to find it was older than what I had before. Now I just don't bother. Money better spent elsewhere imo.

  14. It would likely need to be very serious for LL to do anything about it, otherwise they will be overwhelmed dealing with reports based on petty disputes & arguments. Often it's just less time & effort to simply block the people in question. As a rule of thumb; If the police wouldn't do anything about it in a RL situation, chances are LL won't on SL either. Also, referring to people as a "piece of cr*p" (with or without merit) will likely aggravate the matter and provoke them further into behaving in the manner described.

    I find the easiest way to deal with trolls and pests alike is to simply ignore them. - They don't like that as it doesn't give them the attention they seek and more often than not they will move on to something or someone else.

    Not enough to allow you to visit your home, never mind a partner or a hot date.

    There's no easy -auto-solution, but people keep demanding one.

    One potential solution would be for LL to increase the agent or avatar limit per region but there will become a point whereby LL will need to increase the amount of resources (CPU cores/memory etc) to the VMs hosting the regions as to prevent overutilisation and server side lag. I'm guessing this is perhaps why they haven't done it. Perhaps it could be done on a case by case basis in situations like this. 

  19. Most regions will allow you to terraform +/- 4m but there's some exceptions to this and many also don't allow terraforming at all. (Check covenant)  Still, it's probably worthwhile asking the seller to show you or make it so you can test it yourself. 

    Perhaps more importantly; If water access for your boat is important, do check the surrounding land to make sure that it is protected by LL. Otherwise there could be water there today and a skyscraper there tomorrow or even ban lines!

    Err..... What?? SecondLifetime Premium was available until yesterday. Also, you could pay in Lindens albeit not directly. You simply sell the Lindens in exchange for USD via Lindex. LL would have taken the funds from that without charging your bank account/credit card. This is what I did only a couple days ago.

    That would not make business sense, they'd risk a decline in revenues over the longer term. If it was financially viable, I am sure they would do it.

    The potential issue with this idea is that people would likely enter the raffle to see if they win and may not commit if they did actually win, potentially wasting a lot of time and effort for the Lindens and even if they did do this, they would still likely get complaints from people who were away on vacation / <insert other reason here>, so they can't really win either way. 

    Also, I don't get this post because people DID have a chance to purchase SecondLifetime Premium until only yesterday when the option was removed with exception of SecondLifetime Premium Plus. I don't get the big deal though as people could have just purchased 2 SecondLifetime Premiums (one for an alt) for less than the price of SecondLifetime Premium Plus membership and still reap most of the benefits.

    It's interesting that this coincided with month end. I suspect LL may have needed a cash injection, perhaps to meet financial targets. It's all just business at the end of the day and clearly they achieved their objective.
