  1. Nillsen, to use the local texture option cost-free, you click the "add" button, not the "upload" button after choosing  the "Local" option. "Add" will put the link to the texture on your hard drive into the 'local' window - and not cost you anything. You can then use that local texture link in-world, test it to your hearts content, then if you decide it works like you intended, THEN you can use the "upload" button in the local window, or just upload it the old fashioned way and use it in yoir creations at the cost of 10L. The local texture feature does not cost you ANYTHING.

The upside to this new method is that when you make changes to the local texture on your hard drive, the texture automatically updates in-world, so it's really a time-saver.

  2. Agreed, Ceka. I'm a fan of the raw diet for my dogs, been feeding it for years and they love it and they are in really good health. Much better than the dogs I had that I fed commercial dog food, and they live longer.

To the op - doubtful you could get the cat to eat much more than the hamburger part of a Big Mac...  but it might be amusing to watch you try...

Where did you get the idea that so many artists and designers are leaving or have already left SL? Or that they are all in it for the money?  Many don't really leave, they re-brand and open new stores. Many don't ever make a profit at all, they do it because they love it.  For every artist/designer leaving the neighborhood, there are just as many just getting started. SL evolves, it always has. If you don't like mesh clothing, it's really easy - you don't have to buy or wear it. Remember that in SL mesh is still in it's infancy and many creators are just now getting into their stride with it. Many designers are still creating non-mesh items as well -- for instance, my store is full of non-mesh items and new stuff gets added often - but I'm not here to advertise :matte-motes-big-grin:

  4. Same here, been using sl for years with no major issues. Now I crash to desktop with no warning -- but in my case it's any time I edit a prim, flexy prims seem to really make the viewer unhappy, just grabbing it to edit = crash. This has been going on for several months for me, except for a two-week stretch when it seemed to stop, but that ended two days ago - now I'm back to crashing whenever I edit anything. I'm using Firestorm, btw, with fios internet connection... usually on a sim by myself.

  5. Skin creation is incredibly difficult, Gavin, at least QUALITY skins are anyway. They take a huge amount of time and a pretty thorough knowledge of Photoshop or Gimp or similar type software. I wish I could steer you to a good tutorial but I am not aware of any you havn't probably already tried. The Eloh skin files are a great place to start tho, taking them apart and trying different things with them can teach you a lot. You can deconstruct the skin with these files and really see how the layers work and come together in a final skin. Having done this extensively myself, I can't tell you there is an actual 'process' other than trying things and seeing how they work, and how they match up to what you're trying to accomplish.
