Unfortunately the option to include the body of the message in subscription notification emails does not apply to the emails sent for Private Messages. I just double-checked and didn't see it, but I am male so it might just be "male blindness".

Thanks, Darrius. That's exactly it. On emails for thread posts I get the full body. It's only in private messages that I can't figure out how to get the same. If an option for it is there, then I think the blindness toward it must affect males and females equally, because I also double-checked and I can't find it, either.

You are right, I do not see an option related to PMs either.  :(    I will do some research.

Would it be possible to have some sort of grid status 'ticker' at the top of all forum pages, or at least a more obvious link to the grid status?

This may have been suggested before, but looking at Answers today prompted me to raise it again. There must be 10 questions asked in the last few hours about problems accessing web profiles and the "frame load interrupted by policy change" error. As this is addressed in the grid status, perhaps having the status more prominently displayed near the forums (and particularly Answers) would help to reduce repeat questions like this?

    Great feedback!  Noted!    :)

I'm one of those who often edit their posts five times or more. After I fixed a typo, I notice that I could have worded something differently or might want to add something for clarification. I figure if it shows [Edited] anyway, why not edit it again? And again, and again...
    :)

I've never enabled the email notification in this forum. It was a nightmare in the old Jive forum until I found a way to disable it.

I am guilty of this too  :smileytongue:

Am I getting email updates every time someone edits their post? I haven't noticed that. I'll have to start paying better attention.

However, as long as we're on the subject of email notifications, I have some requests. I know at least the first request has previously been mentioned here in the Community Feedback forum, but I'm going to repeat it.

Request #1: Please put the post author in the "From" field of the email notification, the way it was in Jive. I hate seeing every email from every poster on every topic as being from "Community Mailer." If I'm scanning my email looking for a specific post, it's almost impossible to find now without opening every post related to that thread.

Request #2: Can we make the thread title a little more prominent in the "Subject" field? For every email notification, the subject line starts with "Second Life Subscription: 1 Update:". That takes up a lot of space. When I'm checking email on a small screen (my iPhone), I can't tell which thread the notification is for until I open the email. It's minor, but I find it a little frustrating.

Request #3: Can notifications for forum private messages include the body of the message in the email, or at the very least tell me who the private message is from?

Request 1 & 2 - Those are not items I see available for change right now.  I can follow up and see what is possible.  :smileyhappy:

Request 3 - Yes, you can change that in "My settings" so it includes the body of the message too.

Bumping this thread because more and more people are now updating to IE 9 and more blank posts are turning up each day. LL needs to look into this or at the very least alert all IE 9 users to use compatibility mode.

As of last Friday Lithium's statement on the IE9 issue is: Until we have completed our work if you want to use IE9 you can use Compatibility Mode. My understanding is that the editor works fine in Compatibility Mode.

So, they are aware and working on it.  They have had numerous reports of this issue.  I am floating this thread for all so everyone knows about compatibility mode as a work around.

    Hi

Forums are designed for lengthy discussions on a topic.  They are a good place for opinions, collaborations and friendly debate.  Second Life Answers is designed for asking the community Second Life related questions and receiving possible solutions that resolve an issue.  Answers is essentially a quick Q&A format.   Hope that helps!

Want to know who thinks a message is good?

It's easy to find out which regular community members and community experts have given Kudos to a message. Kudos that come from experienced community members may carry more weight -- literally -- than those that come from brand new members.

Thanks for the complete answer, Keli.

I do find this particular paragraph a bit odd, as it does not specify the 'community'. Does this mean a very experienced Second Life resident, let's say a 4-year old, who only just recently started posting (because for all kind of reasons they never got into it) is still considered a 'brand new member' (to the
    forum community
    ) with a lesser weight?

It could have been set that way, but instead we have all kudos set to equal one.  ~ Lexie

  8. Hi

Apparently the Kudos section of help did not update!  Sorry.  It will be added back in soon.  Here is the info:

The Kudos option is available in Second Life Answers, the Knowledge Base and the Creation Forums. For any content that you like, just click on the Kudos button to show your agreement with an answer or comment. Kudos let you vote for the messages that you think are the most useful or important. Kudos boost the value of a message, which may turn it into a hot topic. This extra visibility may encourage others to read the message.

How to Give or Revoke Kudos:

    • To give Kudos to a message and its author, just click the Kudos Badge on the message.
    • If you change your mind about the quality of the message, you can revoke your Kudos by choosing Options > Revoke My Kudos from this Message. The Kudos count is then updated and the Kudos badge shows that you can now give the message Kudos again.

Want to know who thinks a message is good?

It's easy to find out which regular community members and community experts have given Kudos to a message. Kudos that come from experienced community members may carry more weight -- literally -- than those that come from brand new members.

To see who's given Kudos to a message:

    1. Go to the message page.
    2. Click the Kudos total.
    3. The Who Kudoed this Message page shows you all the community members who've given Kudos to the message.

    Kudos Weight:

Your Kudos weight is the number of Kudos that you give each time you click a Kudos icon. Kudoes weight is currently set to 1.

Want to know who thinks your messages are Kudos-worthy?

Your Profile page is the place to start. You can also see Kudos activity for other community members on their Profile pages.

To see who's given you Kudos:

    1. Click your log-in name to go to your Profile page.  Your Profile page shows the names of community members who gave you Kudos, the messages they Kudoed, your top Kudoed messages, and the Kudos you've given.
    2. To see all of your recent Kudos activity in an area, click the view all link at the bottom of the list. Your Kudos Activity page shows the recent Kudos you've given or received.
    3. Click the tabs to see more info about your Kudos activity.

    You cannot give a kudo?

There are a few reasons why you might not be able to give Kudos to a post.

    • You've already given Kudos to this message (you can only give them once).
    • You wrote the message (you can't give Kudos to your own messages).
    • Your community manager wants you to give Kudos only to a message that starts a thread and not to replies.
    • The Kudos option is off for a specific message or forum.
    •  Kudos are frozen for the message. You can still see how many Kudos that the message has received, but you can't give it Kudos anymore.

    If the Kudos number vanishes:

Sometimes a message gets so many Kudos that we run out of space to show the number. When that happens you'll see a red Hot Kudos symbol or icon instead of the Kudos count on the Kudos badge.

LOTS of complaints about Answers being sorted in 'newest first' order.  EVERYONE who commented saying they want to see them in 'oldest first' order - the way they were posted.  MANY complaints about stupid ranks and kudos.

RESULT: Now there isn't even an option to sort in 'oldest first' order - all I get is f***ing 'newest first' or 'most kudos'.  How the FFFF is anyone going to follow even a short discussion if there is no logical order to the posts? ESPECIALLY when the sodding things don't even say to whom they are a reply.

This is unusable.  I'll look at answers every few days to see if it's changed but otherwise I'm not using the thing any more.

    Hi

Thanks for the feedback.  See the image for how to sort by oldest.  :smileyhappy:

Umm .. Lexie? I haven't the slightest idea who you are replying to. (gentle nudge toward the "Quote" button)

    Thanks for pointing that out!
