  1. And if thats rude or blunt lets be grateful that the 'techno-heads ' havent got the same monopoly on those that some of them seem to want over sl resources, building techniques etc.
  2. Everyone said the Titanic was unsinkable...someone didnt tell the Iceberg unfortunately...and I think if Lindens put all their eggs in one basket theyre going to be sunk too.. I dont hate this mesh idea but I think Lindens should not just be catering for a technocratic elite who regard the rest of us as 'lazy peasants' because we want to enjoy our building in sl rather than it becoming a complex mathematical process divorced from inworld activity. 800 people using blender ... what about the thousands of us who use the inworld building system and who want to see that expanded on ? I have the feeling theres a fantatical group of people who want sl to become a 'technocratic paradise' and lets face it no one likes to 'lord it' over other people more than people with computer technical skills...you only need to read this forum to see this...
  3. Interesting someone with clear technical knowledge saying the plan's not going to work... Come on Lindens lets see some work on the inworld building system please
  4. Philip Linden was talking accessible - and yet to build you have the choice between sl's stagnating building system... or going and puzzling which one of the umpteen third party software packages - not all of them free and certainly not cheap - to use..why should lindens care as long as people keep paying the hefty tiers.... Screw those who want to see Lindens actually do something to give us an innovative building stystem you can use by virtue of the fact you know how to build in world....
  5. I dont want to learn 'computer science' to take part in what some people are describing as a game...
  6. ..and for all the self proclaimed 'experts' voicing their knowledge not one has been able to answer what I thought were a few 'simple' questions about the tyrannosaurus skeleton pictured at the beginning of the thread.....
  7. It seems to me that these 'meshes' are simply lindens bowing out of having to use technical people to work on any sort of inworld building Im increasingly getting the feeling its 'take the money and run time' and all those drooling over a seemingly endless range of third party softwares are simply encouraging Lindens to abandon responsibility for any sort of building system at all... certainly not one thats being progressed or innovated...
  8. I hope that the mesh technology works better than stopping email notifications from this forum by the way... despite having stopped notifications over ten times it still hasnt stopped me receiving over a hundred emails....
  9. Philip Linden talked about accessibility to sl for all.. is the sort of jargon we're seeing in this forum making building in sl an accessible and enjoyable pastime to all... ?? When are we going to need quantum physics and string theory knowledge to access our inventories Philip ? Im getting vertices....sorry I mean vertigo....
  10. Not one word from lindens on what the future of inworld building is... I dont want an sl full of sculpties which take ages to rez, which you have to pay to import and which have you have no way of knowing whether they will looking right inworld till they're imported. Nor can you use the software inworld, nor can you 'experience' putting your build together prim by prim. For those who are experienced enough to use the software great let's hope they enjoy the technologies. Me, I want an alternative for those of us who enjoy building as is and want to see improvement and innovation based on a system anyone who comes to SL can use. I want fun building inworld not pawing over some complex piece of software. People who applaud the meshes are forgetting that the use of third world means that Lindens who still take the tiers have to do less and put in less effort to satisfy their customers...have we seen any drop in charges no...will Lindens take more from the use of these meshes - of course. I dont mind anyone using meshes , making sculptiies or whatever but I expect for the money I pay to be provided by Lindens with fun, easy to use building tools, which I can use in world without having to learn how to use complex new software and I expect that system to be built on and updated....
  11. If this mesh becomes the main building tool and every creator has to import every new item...clothes, avvys, housing units et al Lindens are going to make a fortune.. I enjoy taking inworld snaps and I totted up my monthly bill once I was shocked...If lindens aren't going to make from this one lets see them put their faith in the new system and abolish upload fees.....
  12. No I dont expect an in world mesh editor - I expect inworld building to be improved and innovated... and a system that exists and that everyone who wants to build knows how to use expanded....instead of littering the place with more slow rezzing 'sculpties....
  13. No body has told me about that tyrannosaurus yet... does a 'map' have to be added to an inworld prim as with current scultpies? If so would all of the bones in that skeleton be 'mapped' onto one prim ? Now that tyrannosaur looks in sclae so if a 'amp' has to be used in conjuction with inworld prims its got to be lots of little prims as megas are strictly not legal yet right ? If you dont have to use these maps in conjuction with prims how exactly are they rezzed in world ? I believe the last in world T. rex skeleton I saw was easily into the hundreds of prims... Also if I build a house for example using these meshes do I have to be able to calculate the positions of doors , windows floors etc in my nice blender software or whatever I use ? Does it then load as a map again to be imprinted on a single prim....
  14. So lets keep up the whining incase lindens forget and let inworld building continue to stagnate until our little technocracy has established itself and takes over....
  15. So tell lindens who we're paying to get innovating then ...youre simply encouraging them to wash their hands of any innovation inworld....
  16. Im really getting fed up of people praising this programme or that programme to create...this must be exactly what lindens want... the need to provide the tools for content creation taken out of their hands... We should be demanding better in world tools for content creation...are we really paying lindens (Im assuming those revelling in their high tech paradise do actually pay tiers ?) to be told to go and download some third party programme go and create outworld and hope the end product looks right once we've uploaded it which again we have to pay for ??? Believe it or not some of us do actually enjoy doing our 'construction' inworld. I cant don a space suit or sub aqua gear if Im puzzling over some software out world and if Im creating a building I cant get into that 3rd party software and walk around and make adjustments as necessary either....
  17. Well in that case Lindens ought to be careful which fee paying group they alienate then...the techogeeks or the tier paying peasants....
  18. I just want a bigger better sl lego set in world please...give me triangles and polygons and prims that can be sliced and shaped in world..a few extra building menus that relay the dimensions of edited prims correctly... Introduce megaprims as norm.. the ability to slice prims in any plane, round their corners and see the results in world without having to import anything..... Of course that suddenly means you put the responsibility back on lindens to do something ...its all very well lindens going and saying yes you go use your external creation software and we'll just take the money... seems a very crafty cop out to me.. I think people should be calling on lindens to make sure theres an up to date innovated building system inworld that can be used by anyone whos stuck prims together inworld...
  19. There's no news on the system we have being innovated either... Im all in favour of taking the inworld system shaking it by the scruff of the neck and innovating...give me an improved system based on what I know.
  20. In 20 years I'll be 70 if I'm lucky enough to make it that far...Im purely concerned with short term - and while I have no objection to people using their meshes I just want some assurances that the building system we have in world is not going to simply be allowed to stagnate or even turned off.... I dont want to hear it from someone who 'drools' over new tech.. (My idea of 'new tech' is getting rid of a fortunes worth of vhs cassettes and replacing em with dvds ) no matter how clever they are . I want to hear from the horses mouth whats going to happen. I dont know how often I have to reiterate this but I am paying to be in SL not be learning how to use new software which is used outworld the product of which you have to pay to import... I dont see jack linden saying upload charges will be ended...Cynics might even see an increase in upload charges. I see an sl world full of sculpties which take ages to rez if they rez at all.... Lets face it more than ten people move into a region and its 'screwed'....
  21. So what's wrong with innovating based on what we have inworld ???
  22. Any introduction of a system to create 'outworld' should go hand in hand with improvement and innovation of the building system most people in sl know and understand.. I see sl become extremely techno elitist you can even see it happening in this forum already... Im wondering if thats why teenagers are now allowed in world because they'll have the computer education to manipulate these techniques...
  23. WHATS HAPPENING TO THE INWORLD SYSTEM USING PRIMS ??? im not paying a huge tier to have to learn how to create out world and then paying even more to import.... I was looking to improvement in the in world building system ...now Im beginning to wonder if the inworld building system is going to be turned off in which case we'll see how many technogeeks you can find to replacetier paying peasants .....
  24. This 'peasant' isnt paying a tier to keep a bunch of technogeek teenagers happy with their new toys...
  25. Who are you calling a peasant ????
