Correct. It's like we almost need to reply to every single post "when is it coming?", etc. with "sometime next year"..

Some people have such low expectations, they seem to think it's not coming at all just because they don't have the info.

To be fair, this is LL... How many "projects" have been announced that never showed up or showed up years later completely changed? I mean we are still waiting for flowing water and mirrors that actually work.. Why cant water be placeable? why cant i have a basement without water in it at ground level?

That's interesting.  I usually use Newest first so I had set that earlier when I was shopping.  I just reopened the MP and it's still set to newest.

I understand that, but if you go to page two does it stay on newest? When i do it goes to relevance.

All i did was hit next page

probably the name Cortez.  Your shoe is not similar to the design of the Nike Cortez tho. However Cortez is a Nike brand so yeah. Best to contact Linden Support to clarify

this said, is best tho to not reference any RL product in the name, description or tags of your marketplace listing. Is possible to build your own shoe brand in SL and be successful with it

Aside from the distinctive swoop, that sneaker is identical to the Nike Cortez... Nots sure what you are looking at...

    Hello ,

I have had some shoes for sale in my store removed with the words: Removed under our Intellectual Property Policy. The item has no trademarks or logos, the logo is mine. I was very careful in this but the name of the item is called "Cortez" (referring to the famous nike cortez). Do you think the problem is the name or the similarity with the product that generates the problem?

Same sole, same jagged panel around the tongue, same lacing, the only difference is the swoop and the texture.. I wonder why it got nuked...

  4. Marketplace is still defaulting to Relevance when i search by Newest and go to page two.. Still shows that 10000+ at the top as well. Its been far too long for this bug to still not have been fixed.. Many merchants are losing out on sales because they aren't shown past page one. Doesn't matter the search, only the first 96 new items get seen.

In my limited experience, this seems to be more prevalent in the hubs than in the learning sims I've been to. Generally, people are seated in a circle, and the teacher or moderator will let everyone speak up almost equally, unless one chooses to just observe and listen, there are assigned Observer Seats nearby.

I think most book clubs follow the same round table/seat arrangement to make people read out loud in turns as well. I've also seen some voice discussion places have this rez ball where whoever clicks it will be given their turns accordingly. I can't remember the specifics; maybe someone could share if they know about this "wait for your turn to talk" rez item thing.

That all well and good and I would always assume a teaching sim or book club sim would have a round robin rule. You wont find that at busy popular sim that have voice. Which was the question from the OP. Busy sims sound like a 3rd grade playground. Everyone talking at once. Heck, sometimes in more than one language. I think people have forgotten that you can have a private voice chat in IMs.

I was a shopping event the other day. Came across two women talking at full volume in voice. Inane, mindless jabbering about whatever popped in their heads with no regard to the people around them. They were rude, insulting and just plain nasty. Remarking on everyone outfits, hair, shape and things in their profiles. All the while looking like glamazon drag queen invisible pony riders. Maxed out sliders, giant meter round... uh.. floatation devices? With a booty to match and teeeny tiny feet. SMH. This is why i have voice off most times.

in the USA, as animats pointed out earlier, is all about the US labour laws

when a company gives any form of compensation for an activity that is in recognition of a service performed for the benefit of the company then the activity falls under the Fair Labor Standards Act and when so is subject to compensation stipulations. There are exemptions in the Act, like compensation for babysitting, community services, etc, which are not subject to stipulations, but a helpy person in a virtual world is not one of the exemptions (not in the literal list of exemptions anyways)

Linden already sailing pretty close to the edges of the Act and I think any kind of payment (even if dressed up as costs reimbursement) would probably tip them over the edge - at least insofar as a answerable case that could be brought by the US Department of Labor should a complaint be laid

so don't anyone be expecting any form of compensation at all

i could be wrong about this and Linden have some kind of legal opinion which says Second Life is a community service, so yeah might have or might not have, dunno.  But I would think the matter would have been run at least once thru legal already

Yes, I know.. I live in MA, which is in the US. The only compensation stipulations they would need to follow are wages or an equivalent compensation for time/services rendered. They could easily pay people in $L. Or give them free Premium membership. Put a cap on Weekly hours worked.

at least if people want to keep it open, which I assume we all do.

That's awfully presumptuous of you. :)

I think the biggest issue for me is the lack of compensation. Minimum wage in Massachusetts is $15 an hour.. That would be $30 minimum pay per week for me as a Mentor. I think a good compensation for Mentors at a minimum would be free premium plus. Possibly with a stipend boost for as long as they are mentors.

What does it have to do with the topic again?

What does questioning a post have to do with the topic?

See, to stay on topic here, if I was a mentor i would advise you to report the post for being off topic rather than asking why post about something off topic. As asking about why something was off topic would be off  topic and following the guidelines you should just report the post.

    Helpers gonna help.

LOL! I wasn't talking about "who is older", just that keyboards had changed.

I barely missed the period where my high school apparently had a mechanical dumb terminal.  I think my brother used that when he was in school. I don't remember it having a punch card reader when I saw it.

However:  When I took a college break and attended a local junior college one summer, they did have classes (I took one) in some old school mainframe stuffs but I digress:  They had a punchcard class but I missed it.

Yeah, I didn't do computers until 1974 I think.  After punch cards in general..

DANG you're old! But still pretty!!

Love, if you are talking about using computers in 1974 i hate to tell you this, but YOU are old. And I thought I was a dinosaur. I was 1 in 1974.
