I have one novelty I noticed, but that I don't think will be listed in the release notes:

    • On login (with any viewer), the avatars now always fly (*)

    Annoying... 🤪

(*) Until you click with the mouse in-world, at which point the viewer will update the flying state; normally, the avatars should never be flying on login, and it is the viewer which sets the flying flag (if needed) and informs the server of this, based on a saved setting (the flying state is saved on logout in ”FlyingAtExit”)...

A friend of mine was complaining to me about this. I personally haven't seen it (but that may just be because I've clicked something whilst waiting for my avatar to rez).

  2. The 100 limit is probably a pragmatic choice to limit the size of memory required for the return list. According to https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Omei_Qunhua a key uses 102 bytes in a list, so returning 100 keys is using a whopping 10K of heap.

I can't see that limit changing any time soon, so probably what's needed is a filterable version of llGetParcelPrimOwners, where you could specify the minimum and/or maximum prim counts. No idea if it is feasible for the simulator to return such a list in a timely manner (and unfortunately a dataserver event can only return a string).

Names: Los Topos, Delta Dawn, Tulsa Thyme, Eastbound Downs.

Ranchland now looks like an Indian Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros Unicornis)...

  5. I don't think there's any randomness involved in the selection. It just simply selects the first house owned by governor linden from a database table and sets you as owner. Abandoning just sets the owner field in the table back to governor linden (thus making it available again for selection). Database rows normally get returned in key order, so the earliest released houses will always be the ones that get chosen first, hence the unwanted house always coming up if there is no other activity.

I love the extra prims with the 2048! But I was surprised that all the lots were rectangular. Some people have done spectacular jobs decorating the rectangular lots using the back yard as a farm and/or stable area. Mine is kind of empty and I would have kept trying for the square.

With 2048m2 you can only make 64x32 parcels. Any other shape would have to have corners cut out.

Or a moldy donut that was left in the company fridge too long.

I've never known one to be around long enough for that to happen -- they're just too tempting... Oh none left :(

  8. My understanding is LL make no guarantees your inventory will be synced. A re-sync (if it is to occur) is only queued after a login to Aditi (not sure, but I believe has to be a successful logout). The re-sync queue is then processed at a scheduled time --.so basically, login & logout from Aditi; cross-fingers the logout was successful. Wait 24hrs and hopefully new items up to when the re-sync ran will have been copied across.

You can of course contact support and ask for a manual re-sync.

Seems that the RC channels (not sure if one or all of them) are getting 2023-06-09.580543. Looking at the software's release date it must've been QA'd by the night shift!

Looks like LL are following their new deployment pattern of limited RC rollout first week, subsequent week all RCs, and then finally onto SLS Main.

I have a couple of RC parcels, and only the BlueSteel one has 580543.

  10. For now[1], the current deploy strategy for a particular version seems to be:

    1. Deploy to BlueSteel only as it's the smallest (in number of regions) of the 3 main RC channels
      1. Obviously if there is a problem, fewer regions are affected by having to do a rollback
    2. If all goes well, the following week deploy to the other RC channels
    3. if 2) goes well, the following week deploy to Main SLS channel

[1] I suspect the deploy strategy for PBR when it arrives will be different
