  1. This singer, Ry Anne, has one of the most beautiful voices I've heard in Second Life.  We've been enjoying trying to cam on people and see what they are wearing.  Its difficult to rezz avatars in so I started to watch the live stream and spotted the cutest little frog up front by the stage, dancing.  I wanted to get a quick picture of him so I cammed in, in world. It took me about 10 minutes to get him rezzed in, then some people moved and stood right in front of him, blocking my view.

I gave him a quick IM and he was sweet enough to move back a little so I could snap this picture. So a shout out of thanks to @Alotta Mole

  2. My husband and I are currently at the Festival Stage.  Not sure who is singing, but she's fantastic and a large crowd.  The Quad is ideal for including a lot of people to enjoy this.  She's singing a song now to the Moles of SL. Cute!!

There's a new singer up now. They have some wonderful performers! If you can make it on over, you won't regret the entertainment. Dress down though for lag.

The Welcome Area was pretty mobbed and very laggy, so when I sent some alts over to get the freebie avatar/outfits, I put them in full alphas.

I simply wore a normal outfit that had my CI around 40k, I think.

My husband and I went to grab some of the gifts creators were offering for SL's 16th birthday celebration. I noticed this black ball beside me and tried to click on it to see what was inside as a gift. It turned out to be an avatar escaping the lag by arriving in a simple form.  😂

  4. It is pretty laggy in some locations of the events. I really enjoyed exploring the Linden homes set up, especially the winding rivers and many places dotted along the river banks to hang out and the radio station playing. I found bicycling afforded me the best solution to getting around the streets to fight the lag spikes. Off now exploring other areas of the events. This Tapestry of Time looks intriguing.

  5. So I've been enjoying exploring Second Life's 16th Birthday bash.  Have done a lot of walking around, looking at the new themed homes (trailers) along with the first releases of Traditional homes and House boats.  I have also been bicycling around the streets of the events and love the retro 50s theme. They have the Free avatar gifts you can pick up. I grabbed one and highly modified it, keeping the birthday jacket.  So, for fun, what did you wear to the event?  😎

Did you tell us which interview that was?  I can't seem to find it here but might just be I am tired.  I don't really doubt that he said that but if it was a long time ago (like more than a year when this project started) things may have changed. Recently (magazine article) Patch seemed to say that if folks wanted more they would need to move. That isn't in regard to the "Super Duper Premium" that is coming (maybe the beginning of next year?P). So it could be that the new premium would have an option like that for some kind. Meanwhile this is his comment from the recent interview (last month I think May 29th is the date on my screenshot but was a bit before that).

I guess my point is that even if he said that there could be bigger lots, things may have changed (as they OFTEN do) with the roadmap.

This is the video. My post was under 'Teasers or no teasers in SL 16 video'. (This video interview took place about 2 months ago, right around the time of the new Linden Homes release.)

Well many of us have "known" that there would be 512 for like since SSP showed up on the map sure that there are mentions there; some mine. Too many official comments  (mostly Ebbe and Patch) about people wanting different sizes with different needs. When you factor in the info that a fair amount of folks in the old Linden homes have mainland lots as part of their free tier --- it was pretty much a no brainer that 512s would be offered.

That doesn't mean that there won't be larger lots in the future although I am going with "slightly substantiated rumor number 2" in the Homestead vein. This after reports and comments from techie people (not official but seemed to make logical sense to me).

Super Premium isn't happening for several months (who knows what number that term actually signifies) so really no point in thinking too much about what it might mean right NOW.  :D

In that interview video, the interviewer asked Patch if a person could acquire more sq meters for a larger lot down the road. He said yes, that was possible and also hinted that some lots will be larger in the future.  If you think about it, if a premium member had a small family and wanted a slightly larger home for 2 kids, then a larger home on a bigger lot might be something offered.  They'd probably have to pay an increase in their premium account for this.  Just another sleuthing guess, could be wrong. 😁

I'm still holding firm on my thought that the new theme will be camping/caravan type homes. Alas, I will be at work tomorrow so can't have a peek till tomorrow night!

If it is by chance, camping trailers or any kind of trailer, I do hope the camera angle works well. I do love those retro looks, but some creators have made them so compact, camming inside is dreary.  Even before the release of the SL 16th birthday video, I had guessed that the smaller 512 homes would be akin to a trailer or hut type structure for smaller home dwellings.  Can't wait to find out...

I watched through slowly KNOWING what I was looking for and saw nothing, not even the region that was holding the builds. That region was gone for much of the time (taken up maybe two weeks or more ago) so likely it wasn't around when they were filming.     This assuming you are NOT talking about the beach huts -- which "could" be a new theme I guess -- but not what was in the area next to the previously released homes and houseboats.

After Patch speaks perhaps all will become clear :D.

PS. Patch posted a hint on his Flickr stream which was posted here on the forums (maybe the SSP thread, not sure). So check that out if you want an "official" hint.

You got me curious so I went to look at his flickr.  I saw a possible clue and that would be so cool to see in the neighborhoods but I won't state what I noticed.

The beach houses shown in the video are Trompe Loeil's Suffolk Beach Huts, which were an Arcade gacha some time ago.

They are indeed! I know that Patch mentioned there would be some 512 lot sized new homes. Which a beach hut would fit that model.  So would a trailer.  We can guess our brains out! Thank you for sharing. 😉

  11. I did some sleuthing.  I remember watching a video interview with Patch, when I first was exploring information about the new 2019 Linden homes.  I watched the video a few times and teleported to Bellisseria continent for comparison.  What I did notice was that the streets, sidewalks and street lights are the same in the Second Life birthday video that showcases the shops and schoolhouse as what is being used now in the neighborhoods of the traditional homes.

The Second Life intro video to the 2019 Linden homes, mentions the two themes, traditional homes and house boats.  The traditional homes are styled after mid 20th century starter homes.  This would be a time period of 1933-1967.  The shops and school house are also styled to this time period.

For myself, I do believe that these are new areas to be introduced to Bellisseria.  We have pools, parks, many little community nooks, even some pubs. So why not a faux commercial district?  After all this would complete a more realistic neighborhood.  Parks, pools, schools, shopping centers, drive in movie theaters, etc. of a time period that community and neighbors were a key part of single and family enjoyment of living.  The little beach huts are popular where I currently live and rent. Could these be the 512 new models?  As for other larger places, its difficult to say what Patch was hinting at but its fun to guess.

For more clues to what might be coming, I have included the interview with Patch Linden. Inserts below of just a portion and the video link to watch.

    Interview clip:

Interviewer asks: "There's currently a lot of undeveloped land, is this targeted for expansion of the new style homes?"

    Patch says: "It might be..."

Interviewer asks: "Are there plans for other styles that you hinted at this?"

Patch says: "Yeah. We do have plans for quite a few more styles of homes. And who's to say they are all ... homes?"

Interviewer asks: "Will they all be 1024, the maxium free land allocated to premium members? Or are you planning to have some smaller homes or larger ones, for that matter?"

Patch says: "We do plan to have a mix. Ya know, this is intended to be a replacement for the old Linden homes. So we do want to cover kind of both ownership experiences. Where if somebody wants to split their parcel useage and have a smaller home that only uses a 512 sq meter parcel of land from their tier allotment for their premium account they can do so. These two particular homes types that we're going out with initially don't have that mix, but we've got some others, again in accordance with the other type of homes or not homes as they were, coming, that may or may not be 1024 or 512 either way."

  12. instead of opening a new thread, I'll just ask the question here.  😁

I know there is a riding group for Bellisseria (horses). What about bicycles and more to my real question. Is there a boating club?  I already belong to a sailing club, not sure how well the continent is set up for an actual sailing club to have mass amounts of sail boats following each other along a route, yet.  But some slower motor boats could be fun.

Thank you for clarifying this about the faux community businesses.  They are unique and give a nice inviting welcome to the public to come in and explore their residences.

There is no business sign at the Apple Pie house. It only has an open house sign that does not use a business name at all.

Personally, I like the little faux businesses that some have built. I'm not all that keen on builds that totally eclipse the Linden Home structure though, but that's just my personal opinion. When reading the covenant it doesn't say it's not allowed, so as long as it complies with the theme I suppose it's allowed. I tend to believe that freedom is more important than compliance at times though. I really don't like the idea of busy bodies policing their neighbors, and I'm not saying you are doing that by questioning. I have seen it happen though in these very forums. Fortunately, most of those posts have not been met with acceptance by the majority of those responding.

You are correct, I should have clarified my wording better, it was sponsored by Apple Fall but it only states that it is an open house that anyone can come inside and view to see how they decorated it.

I also agree about the fake storefronts. I know the person who put them up has nothing but the absolute best intentions of adding to the community but I think they just look too commercial, like a strip mall.

The ones, however, who've set up the pubs, home offices, etc... those are awesome because (as far as I know) they haven't actually changed the outside look of the house structure itself. One might even have a neighbor who travels with a carnival six months a year and has his stuff set up at home when he's not on the road!

I have a question in regards to these residential pubs, cafes, home offices, they were very cute and unique, 1 or 2 that I saw had little signs out front, is this okay with the covenant? They are not real businesses but faux business presentations and inviting (I am assuming here) to the public to come in and enjoy their place. My question is more, is it okay to put the little signs outside like that? It does help the neighbors, public know they are welcome to come inside.

btw, I did find the Apple Fall display home and enjoyed going inside to have a look around, so by this measure, I am guessing that the little business signs (faux business) would fall into the permits of the covenant.

  16. Personally I feel that residents should be allowed to decorate the interior of their homes as they see fit and suits them.  That should not be in question. My thoughts were more of what is seen from the outside by people that pass by or your neighbors who live along side of each other.  In referencing the LL covenant it does state that 'residents should keep their Linden Homes presentable and in-theme to their unique areas'.  I had noticed a few (very few) places that looked out of theme in accordance to the covenants stipulations and wondered on those that might be pushing the limits of their covenant. i.e. a circus would not be in theme to the design presented by LL.

People will cam inside homes when no one is around to see how others have decorated their place up when they are impressed by the exterior decor. I do, no apologies given. ;)

Also, as stated, for privacy you can set your lot where no one outside your property lines can see or hear you, they will only be able to see your rezzed items on your lot.

  17. First I must say, the new linden homes are perfect for a nice neighborhood community.  I do love the look and styles as do so many others that have posted here.  I've spent some time exploring the areas, by land and water and I am amazed by the different styles and decor that residents have been showcasing.  So many are cleverly detailed with such artistic flare.  I've seen so many original ideas and really admired the owners talents.  I love the additions that creators have made and residents are using on their homes, some have adorable garages, porches, stables and even rezz horses to ride!  Sometimes I even snap my fingers thinking to myself, why didn't I think of trying that in a decorating idea.

I do not yet currently have one of the new linden homes and like many others I am patiently awaiting when LL will release the next batch.

There is one thing I did notice while touring that left me to ponder.  In the LL covenant, it states that residents should keep their Linden Homes presentable and in-theme to their unique areas.  I also believe it states that homes are to be used strictly for residential use, not commercial.

I have not seen any commercial use but I have notice a few faux business like set ups with signs outside and invites to come inside. It was unique in the concept but is this keeping with the covenant still?  I understand the desire to be open and invite the public and neighbors to enjoy your own private area but a few I felt were not in keeping with the theme and looked out of place with their neighborhood, one even had security gate houses with faux 2 dimensional cartoon like people working at desks.  Cute but out of theme.  Another house I spotted was a crazy, cool looking carnival like set up but their theme was carried to the outside and it stood out like a sore thumb, completely out of place in the neighborhood.  My mention of this is not a complaint but a question of how far are residents allowed to push the limits of keeping with the well detailed and constructed theme that Linden Labs seemed to work very hard at getting right for once.

If any of you have lived on other mainland sim areas or even the older Linden homes, I'm sure you remember having neighbors who's themes were very wacky and ended up distracting and spoiling the pleasant scenery, so I mused my thoughts aloud to hear some feed back of what is 'within the limits'.

There is also a free HUD you can get on MP that shows the rez zones (you can also rez it as a map). A search on "bellisseria rez hud" will bring it up for you. (Sorry I can't link; no access to MP at the moment.)

I'll do a search on MP for that, again thank you both for the prompt replies!

  19. I'm sure this question has been asked and answered but doing a search I couldn't find any answers to my question.

On the Bellisseria continent, are there rez zones anywhere? So if someone owned a traditional house, but wanted to rez out a small boat on the waters, they could do this without having to rez it on their own property and drag, move it to the nearest water location.  If there are designated rez zones, is there a map that shows their location. Thanks for any help and input on this question.

Yes I know Angie, that is why I said other than the forum... Unfortunately I´m not able to follow the forum as often as I wish, and since the houses go puff like very fast, was wondering if there was a way to get noticed, like a email telling they are out, other than forums and threats

If you follow Patch and that tread topic then set your settings to receive an email notice when Patch posts any updates to that post, that should give you the email notifications you want to keep updated on when the next batch of houses are released.

As the owner of the parcel where your Linden Home is, you can enable any experiences with a G or M rating (not A).   Avisitter is enabled for the whole of Bellissaria by default as far as I know (it should be) and I think it's enabled for the older Linden Homes, too but I'm not sure.  It should be, since for several months now we have used the Avsitter system when we make LPDW furniture with multiple animations and sits.

If it's not enabled, the home owner can enable it as described here:
