    as for my own two cents ; got the body a bit late after seeing someone in a discord server im in post pics of an avatar with a chubby bodytype and when i asked they told me it was reborn, it was instant after that lol.

    finally..... a body that can appear chubby (not just curvy) that has clothing support Q__Q my linden wallet is about to cry once i get to this round of K9 because there's so many cute things for reborn there

  2. im here to complain about scripting again

    i spend an hour rewriting a bit wondering why it doesnt work

    as a desperate last stand, i change the < to a > and poof! it works PERFECTLY

    i was CONVINCED i was using the right one for the situation but nooooooo... even with the whole crocodile analogy i can never remember which is which so the ONE TIME i dont use reference i mix them up : p

    oh also! medical wait times is a new one, never was this bad where i used to live but also covid is like 10x worse here and causing the whole system to implode

  3. i found an amazing building to replace one i'd been using! problem is

    a) previous building has lots of stuff surrounding it

    b) new building is HUGE

    ...this is gonna take a while 8D so i guess i'm gonna be spending a few hours putting that into place lol

    but hey better to be productive late at night considering food poisoning took me out most of the day

  4. i've been thinking about upgrading a homestead to get more space, but also i really, really do not want to redecorate. i read through the knowledge base articles and maybe it's just late and i missed it, but i couldn't find mention of whether or not all the objects in the homestead being upgraded would be returned/deleted or not.

    does anyone know if they're returned, or if they'll stay?

  5. I was originally going to post this yesterday but all the event stuff tired me out @w@

    But! The October event - Necrophobia - is live! Instead of a hunt, it's a small trick or treat 'minigame' and a boss battle! Again it's free to participate in and runs until the end of October! And you can fight the boss co-op style, if you want :}

    Information can be found by clicking the poster either at the RP center or at the landing! Or just look at the event blog here.

    The ground level has changed seasons as well! This will stay until December.

    Second update!

    Old underworld / snowy level has been completely redone and it's very pretty now! I think it is at least.

    This is just a small snippet of it, so if you're itching for that winter vibe early you can find it through the giant hole in the ground just to the side of the hill the shrine is on.

    The upgrade was done by resident Annabell Wandsworth , and she's open for this kind of work if you're the type who's interested!

    Animal realm has also had some minor touchups, so the construction forecast should be clear!

    Now that event stuff is out of the way I can get to properly working on planned updates, like more sidequests and NPC battle encounters!

    i tried, and it fires correctly when facing east or west. but when facing north or south, it still rotates with the long side swinging, instead of the 'propeller' like motion.

    the script had been removed aswell

    this is the exact script i use for the actual laser (not the trigger/rezzer), not including the llDie and temp flags, taken from the wiki except with axis changed - yet each time i call for the laser, the direction it spins in is different despite it being set up separately and rotating the way i want it to in its original, non hud rezzed version

    unrelated, while it DOES work now, it looks a little stale - i had originally planned to make it rotate around this way (see image), but using the examples of the wiki for llTargetOmega , it will end up spinning fine at some angles but wildly in the incorrect direction at others

    (i do know of texture animation, and the rainbow is actually animated in that fashion, but using llTargetOmega gave it a nice 'wobble' when i was putting it together)

  9. figured i'd finally ask instead of trying to figure it out myself because im Tired

    i want to make a laser (mesh temp phantom vfx object) rez in front of the avatar, facing in the shooting direction, on command.

    i have the 'on command' part figured out already, but can't for the life of me get it in proper position and rotation. for clarification, i want the laser to shoot forwards in the direction the avatar is facing. so if my avatar is facing left, i'd assume i'd call for the z axis rotation and have the laser be rotated in that direction to match? but i can't really seem to figure it out

    the other problem is position, as the laser will rez in at the laser object's root. i'm... not quite sure how to offset it to it rezzes at the start of the laser facing the direction i want

  10. totally unrelated to ongoing conversation but just my 2 cents;

    i browse the secondlife tag on twitter frequently, as creators will post very cool things there! but, also... you get crypto dudebros talking about the 'metaverse' being the 'second coming' of SL , and that's kind of what i fear.

    idk. i'm generally in the boat of 'thinks crypto is dumb' for a multitude of reasons, and the cryptobro's idea of the metaverse seems so... bleached. in a palatable to silicon valley way. it feels soulless.

    lucia put it wonderfully imo

    i love SL for what it is. the only limit is your imagination and skillset (and... wallet depth in many cases >>;;), and it doesn't matter who you are - you can create things as long as you have the will. this idea of the metaverse feels very 'corporate', if that makes sense.

    like dont get me wrong, i LOVE virtual worlds and experiences, it's been a huge interest since i was a kid. i'd love for more people to find out about secondlife and what you can do in it... i just don't want SL to become watered down as a result.

    Welcome to the land of fantasy!

    GensoSL is a tribute project to a certain well-loved anime shoot-em-up, that's kind of sort of evolved into my experimental game building project. Its general purpose was to combine my love of the series it's based on, as well as be a space that includes what I love to see most in SL - those being solo explorative opportunities and interactive elements.

    General theme is fantasy Japan / anime aesthetics, but any avatars are welcome to explore! Just note the region is M rated, so like, wear clothes at least?

    What is there to do?

    There's exploring across 2 regions with multiple levels, but the region also utilizes a HUD system that allows for more game-like RPG elements, like scripted quests and NPC enemy encounters. The implementation of the system is still fairly recent, but it's quickly being expanded upon as I learn more every day! Though of course, it's entirely optional, so if you'd just like to walk around and look at the environment, that's totally ok too!

    Additionally, every 2 months, GensoSL holds 'story events' that are essentially just glorified scavenger hunts / minigames with exclusive item prize(s)!

    While the HUD system does have player interaction and RP tools, you're not obligated to RP in any way - just slap on an OOC tag! People mostly visit to explore on their own or just chill, so the RP environment is very very casual.

    All 'minigames' and rewards will be free to participate in and receive forever - they simply require you have the HUD attached.

     

    The region is in a constant state of change, with more being added and improved upon, even if it's just under the hood technical stuff. That being said, while the region has an update Discord that can be joined via links inworld, I understand not everyone is familiar with Discord, and will try to showcase major updates in this thread.

    Construction forecast:

    • The old underworld / snowy level  - actively undergoing a facelift! please wait warmly
    • The animal realm / cyberpunk level - needs TLC, to be facelifted soon
    • General... interior decorating of filler houses

    the snowbunnies in the bottom left are there despite me not needing them anymore (they were originally dummies for an npc battle script) so they just live there now
