Peeve: just saw the thread about last names commemorating the Queen and someone said she was known as Her Royal Highness. But the thread is locked, so I have to correct that here. HRH is a title for princes and princesses. The monarch is Your Majesty or His/Her Majesty.
I'm waiting to find out what the masculine equivalent of "Ma'am" is, though. "Sir" doesn't sound right somehow.
ETA: Maybe Sire? That doesn't sound right either, though. "Ma'am" is respectful but carries a hint of affection and informality.

I'm totally anti monarchies, they really have outlived their usefulness, but for the Queen I always made an exception.
An IMHO really extraordinary woman has passed away yesterday, a human institution, a landmark in history. It's surprising how many people feel that way. My feed is full of republican, anti-royalists saying, "I hate the institution but I'm surprised at how sad I feel about her."
Personally I don't have strong feelings about the institution one way or another but I don't think it's the biggest issue in our country by any means. As a means of national identity and uniqueness, I'm not sure what we'd replace it with. I do agree with King Charles that it needs to be slimmed down. And it may not be the most intelligent thing to say, but something in me does like all the pomp and ceremony. I know it's silly but no other country does it like that and there is something fun and enjoyable about it.
My peeve is that Camilla is going by Queen Consort. I'd have preferred Princess Consort. I don't know why.
I'm also peeved (as well as very saddened) that this work of absolute genius is now out of date. I'd almost finished learning it.

I didn't think we'd be allowed, but I hope we are.
I'm feeling very sad. I knew she wasn't immortal, of course, but some part of me felt like she was. Everyone under the age of 70 has never known anyone else as monarch. She felt so permanent, so devoted to duty. I love that picture of her inspecting the troops, William among them, and both of them trying not to smile.
I was at the Garden Party once and I remember seeing her cross the grass with Philip. There was a stray corgi bounding around who I don't think was supposed to be there.
Rest in peace, Ma'am.

For purposes of discussion then, I'll ask:
What mistakes have you made in Second Life, that you couldn't have survived or gotten away with in Real Life?
Gor. I barely survived that one as it is. My IQ has never fully recovered.

My father was a member of Mensa. He was good at word, maths and logic puzzles so he scored highly on IQ tests, which show how good you are at IQ tests. I'm of the mind that anyone who would voluntarily spend time in his company can't be that smart.
There are lots of ways to be clever and lots of ways to be stupid.

I'm no genius, but I had a pretty agile brain when I was younger. It's definitely showing it's age these days, takes me much longer to learn things than it used to. I'm in absolute awe of the brains displayed here in the forums. (@Amina Sopwith no , I'm not dissing you).
I'm sorry, I don't think I understand what you're saying.

Uh, I think you meant "chronically", dear.

She might just mean she's incredibly bored in the right order of time. Like if you read Gor books in the order they were published.

Wasn't Gor created by a professor in Queens, of all places, who wrote a bunch of novels?
Professor of the Michael Gove Academy of Windbag Rhetoric.

Who's John Nobhead?
Squatter and dropper of the turds that comprise Gor. 500-year-old windbag who saw a Women's Lib demonstration in 1965 and is still tantrumming about it, doesn't understand gravity or saturated markets and couldn't find the <ahem> if he was guided there by Kenton Cool.

I don't think so, but I vaguely remember a Gor house getting busted years ago after reports that a woman was being held against her will. It turned out she'd followed orders to destroy her passport. There was an interview with the Bore Master of the house and I know you shouldn't make fun of how people look but let's just say if anyone looked like the kind of man who couldn't get a shag unless he rendered a woman unable to leave the country, that was him.

Hell, they gave really full coverage of a protest picket I led at a r*pe sim once, and even published in full a statement I made on it afterwards. (I also got an invite from Morpork to pose for Post 6, but that was mainly in the hope that it would shut me up, I think.)
🤣🤣🤣
Had these halfwits ever met you?
That's one of the funniest things I've ever read. That's like Goreans thinking I'll shut up if I could just get a date with John Nobhead.
(I might, to be fair, but only if I could clandestinely have at his roast tarsk with the Senokot.)

You can't be serious.
What do you miss most? The Post 6 Girl? Or the regular news updates on the exciting trials and misfortunes of Tizzers?
Give me a break.
I've never heard of this. Tell me more.
ETA: I've done some Googling about the Herald and Tizzers and what I'm finding is only confusing me further. Post 6 looks like a pisstake, I mean rip off, of Page 3? Didn't expect a British reference. Spherical fixed boobs that point north at all times definitely look just like Page 3.

I can't form an opinion. It's absolutely unreadable. I literally can't parse the text on it. Can only assume they're all beaming in from some very secure location that garbles all the output until you need a Turing machine to make any sense of it.

Never saw the original interview...I can believe some nuance might have got lost somewhere, perhaps. He apologised to her, though. In a funny way, I think people do know she writes her own songs because so many of them enjoy bashing her over it.
I know it's not true of Taylor, but a lot of singers don't write songs. A lot of them (most?) can't read music. They're different skills.

I don't recall where you fell in, with regards to Taylor Swift or clown gifs, so I shall refrainThink I missed the clown gifs...
I don't own any of Taylor's music and I don't know much beside the famous stuff, but I think she's very talented and I do like the Trouble song. I saw she had some tiff with Damon Albarn on Twitter a while ago and a load of Twitteratis didn't know who he was, which made me feel both rather old and rather English. I'm a professional cynic but my heart's not in it...

Peeved that Killing Eve was so promising to start with and then turned so crap. But I loved seeing the guy from The Thick Of It in such a different, albeit short-lived, role.
Peeved that I have to wait until next year for the next series of The Apprentice.
Peeved that I didn't really like Peaky Blinders when I really wanted to.
However, I've got ALL the David Suchet Poirot episodes on my tellybox, so I'm good for a while. Eh bien.

I haven't been on much lately, so maybe I missed something, but it's probably the most sanitised forum I've ever been on. I'm always surprised when people say it's toxic etc.
I think the relatively small community is because SL is very niche in general.
