  1. If the LL viewer is working and FS is not you can try something semi drastic. Rename the user_settings folder found in C:\users\YourWindowsLoginName\AppData\Roaming\Firestormx_64 to user_settings.old and then restart the viewer. This will force FS to go back to default settings and you WILL lose your current settings.

*note* if you are using a 32bit version of Firestorm Firestormx_64 will just say Firestorm.

*note II* AppData is a hidden folder in windows. See below to make it visible.

    1. Select the Start button, then select Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization.

    2. Select Folder Options, then select the View tab.

    3. Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then select OK.

If this fails please update your graphics card drivers from either Nvidia, AMD or Intel for the latest Windows 7 driver.

  2. If you do get a new graphics card it will be bottle necked by your cpu which is a rather low end cpu. You should be aiming for a whole computer replacement. As stated above this is a very very very bad time to buy a new computer (or parts) as there are massive shortages going on right now and new US tariffs on Chinese goods have just come into effect . My advice.. Don't buy anything now and save your money till the covid crisis dims down which is causing much higher demand from people staying at home and production ramps up at TSMC and Samsung. Also causing massive shortages in graphics cards is crypto going through the roof and miners are grabbing every piece of stock they can get.

If you do decide to buy a new graphics card anyways you will most likely be paying 170% of MSRP from scalpers. AMD 5000 series cpus, 6000 series gpus and Nvidia 3000 series gpus are known right now in the tech world as being unobtainium. Even used gpus from last year are going for a lot more than what they were purchased at.

  3. Whenever I ban someone from a region or all regions there is always "a reason" and I record that reason in the notes section of their profile for future reference. 99 times out of 100 the person being banned knows exactly why whether I tell them or not. Of course they will try the old "I was banned for no reason!" approach to try to gain the sympathy of others. After a region ban is issued a personal mute is followed because I am not going to get involved in the drama and once you have reached the point a region ban is needed a "Talk to the hand" policy immediately follows. May sound cold but its needed to keep the drama out and the venue or business going without distractions from rule breakers.

Maybe I've just been lucky to get good neighbors most of the time. Even if their stuff isn't always what I'd choose myself, the idea that they're encroaching because they "need more land" really never crossed my mind. In fact usually I see it as a bit of free decoration for which I don't need to spend my own primcount.

I remember years ago I had some great neighbors and we linked our pathways together and between the three of us we had a 1/2 sim parcel. What I was talking about previously was on Blake Sea seafront property and that is not cheap to say the least. I had about 2500 sq/m and the person who was encroaching only had a 512 sq/m parcel and would constantly go over again and again. I guess if it was the usual L$1 sq/m land I wouldn't been such a *****. But Blake Sea you spend hundreds of USD on. That makes a huge difference.

If that is the case, you return the encroaching objects. But perhaps it's not neccessary to return stuff that aren't really in the way and I thought that was what this discussion was about.

I understand what you are saying and if the land owner asks I usually will not have an issue with that. The point is why should I feel compelled to subsidize someone else's build? If that person needs more land they should purchase it. I shouldn't feel "shamed" by the community into subsidies for others. I guess you have never had an issue where someone repeatedly over and over again would encroach. It made me quite bitter and they didn't stop until the third abuse report.

Yeah, that's how to make Mainland ugly: enforce a barren no-man's-land between parcels lest any stray pixels leak across.

The point is that maybe the rightful land owner want's to build something in that area. Now he or she can't because a neighbor callously decided that they "need" that area for their own items. That is just plain wrong and greedy. A line has to be drawn in the sand as to what is acceptable. If you keep allowing your neighbor to encroach they will take more and more. However a line has been drawn by LL for that and its called your property line. Why should a parcel owner have to move their prims back because a greedy neighbor decided a tree branch belongs there.

**Yes, if you live next to me and encroach without permission I am an absolute nightmare to live next to :) **

I got a mental picture of you lasering through a neighbour’s tree roots which happen to grow into the dirt under your land and out daily trimming the leaves of trees which dare grow over your property.  I hope this in not true as it’s not very conducive to nature’s style of decorating and I’m not about to try and start any ‘who’s going to win’ against nature... because that never ends well for people who decide they can do better.  Personally I tend to take my SL very realistically and I don’t mind if some trees and flowers cross into my property and unless they interfere with something I’m trying to use I don’t bother to ask people to move them.
We have had neighbours who have gone the more aggressive way and returned every pixel... but now we are the best of friends 💗 and I have learned so much from their years of expertise and good taste it has turned into one of the most beautiful areas of mainland we’ve ever seen.  It’s on Corsica Contintent’s big island’s South coast.

That is exactly what I will do. I don't care if it's a single pixel over without my permission. I respect my neighbors property and they should respect mine. Tree roots in SL can just as easily grow within their property borders as can mine.

One of the joys of Mainland is not having to live in Bellisaria which makes me think of something spawned in the deranged mind of Disney.  I avoid their damnable covenant, the architecture I cannot stand and having neighbors whose one joy in life is measuring the height of people's trees so they can AR them.

I'm also a total hard ass when it comes to property lines.  I work very hard to keep from intruding on the neighbors and I consider it simple courtesy for them to return the favor.  If my land gets intruded on, no matter how elaborate the build, by so much as the turning of a hair, any, merely a quarter of scruple, back it goes.  And if they are dumb enough to try blocking me in, have they never heard of teleport?  They are preventing nothing and I will be there long after they have sold and left.  I have lands that face protected beach and waterways.  The rare parcel that does not is no handicap so such people are easily ignored and outlasted.

That fun stuff being said, I have had good luck with my neighbors with only a few exceptions.

I 100% agree. After I send one friendly note or IM to a neighbor if they are encroaching on my property (without asking first) even by a small fraction I will have no issue with returning their prims. I work very very hard to make sure my prims are not going over my property lines and I expect my neighbors to do the same. I am not paying tier to host anyone's prims (even if it doesnt impact prim allowance) without my permission. I might sound not very neighborly to some but I find it quite rude that some people feel they can use what I pay for without asking first.

Generally I don't have this problem at all. Most people who are encroaching don't realize they're doing it. But its the ones who feel that they have a right to encroach drive me completely bonkers.

For now you could use a viewer that doesn't have EEP.  The newest Firestorm (a couple of days ago) still doesn't have EEP. So that viewer will be "good" and will be able to access the grid for most likely a year.  There are some third party viewers that don't plan on adding EEP ever and also don't have the rule about keeping the viewer version fairly recent.

I was hoping from the beginning that someone would make EEP optional as you suggest -- mostly because so many folks testing it hated it LOL.   That could still happen maybe.

I'm following the FS dev channel which does have it and my OCD won't allow me to use a regular release, only the ones I build myself! :P  When I feel I'm too bogged down I go back to an older version I made.

There is a known performance problem with EEP viewers.

    JIRA issues:
BUG-226381 - [EEP] Low FPS on the Test DRTVWR-440 EEP project viewer
This was fixed then regressed so many times that I lost count - no idea if it's still open internally but it isn't fixed.

    BUG-228821 - Occasional Freeze in Post-EEP Viewers

I'm following the FS dev branch. So, i'll do what they say in the Army. Hurry up and wait! :)

I will try out the official SL viewer to take a look next time I'm in Windows or Mac though.

  11. For any of the Ubuntu (19.10 and below) and its flavors ive always installed wine64 (installs lots of i386 packages and voice in linux is 32bit)

    sudo apt install wine64

    Followed by:

    sudo apt install libidn11:i386 libuuid1:i386 libstdc++6:i386

    Then voice works perfectly.

You can also set FSLinuxEnableWin32VoiceProxy to TRUE in Firestorm debug settings and copy slvoice.exe from a windows version into the viewers bin folder if wine is installed.

Both ways voice will work just fine.

Personal recommendation: Upgrade from your FX to a Ryzen 3600. That's what i did and the performance is much better for relatively little money.

I agree. Ryzen 5 3600 along with a B-450 chipset motherboard is the best value out there right now. Costs: 3600 $179, B-450 mboard w/wifi $109 16gb ddr4 ram $79. So about $370 will do it. A little less if you dont want wifi.

  13. Your problem is the FX-6300. It's old and under powered. A graphics card change isnt going to make much of a difference because the bottleneck here is the CPU. Best thing to do for now is to reduce max avatars to say 4 so only 4 avatars are being rendered with the rest as 2d impostors (Avatar > Preferences > Graphics > Max# of non-imposter avatars (this is probably set to 16 right now)). If you really want better performance its time for a new cpu, motherboard and ram.  Your RX-570 though basic for a discrete card will be fine with modern hardware. An SSD upgrade is not going to improve SL performance at all in terms of FPS.

  14. I just checked with LL support on this. The $600 transfer fee (to LL) of the grandfathered/buy down sim MUST be paid in USD while the actual selling price of the region is to be paid in lindens. I had bought a buy down region almost about 2 years ago and the whole transaction (transfer and selling price) was done in USD. So, L$270000 ($1046) plus $600usd seems way out of range for a grandfathered/buy down region. The transfer of Lindens is done buy LL support directly not through an in world purchase.
