  1. If you want to have a somewhat future proof lappy I would go with one of the gaming laptops from these companies.... MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, Asrock.

    - The reason why I recommend those companies if because thats what they do... making gaming parts for PCs and PC builders. They strive on making the best parts for the purpose of gaming.

I would not recommend anything by Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba, Acer, HP (Will their "gaming" laptops work... yeah sure)

    - The reason why I don't recommend these is because thats not their forte, I consider them to be more of the "commercialized consumer directed companies" They make PCs for the average person with intentions of making money rather than making PCs that are quality builds and upgradable. If you open up an HP computer you will see they used their own specific branded motherboard which you probably wont be able to upgrade in the future etc.. Dell customer support and sales team is a flat out joke, if you call them you will most likely end up with a PC you dont want with added things you dont want, every other word they say will be "Do you want to add warranty" they care more about selling you the warranty than what you are actually getting lol. Its true, research it.

I don't know your price range but maybe these will give you somewhat of an idea. I'm pulling names from Newegg website but you can probably search Amazon for the same and find them as well. These are all 16gb+ Ram, 1TB SSD, and 1660 - 20XX series video cards. Seems usually $1200+ price range is when you get in to the decent ones that will last for years.

  2. Tariah is an adult region and prices are always higher there.

Determining its value is purely based on how fast you want to sell it.

Adult land sellers do not base prices on the region they are in but an over all market value. If you use Firestorm viewer pull up the search. Content > Search > Land Sales > Set filter to "Price per meter" and check the box that says Ascending and uncheck General and Mod. Then there you have your current adult market filtered from the cheapest to the most expensive. If you want to sell it fast, price it lower than the current lowest priced parcel. If you want to get more money out of it then price it higher and wait it out.

    Price divided by Area/sqm.

So that's you that put up another HUGE ugly sign that can be seen from 3 sims away.  Thanks for helping to keep my neighborhood looking decent.  As if the S**t Street boxes and the giant Biden sign weren't enough.  Thank you for that.  I and my neighbors really appreciate it.

I wish that guy would remove those boxes too... and all those political war signs all over the place. I thought LL was fixing that when they put the blurb in the TOS about political signs no longer allowed but I guess thats only on advertising boards.... such a shame.

    lol...

I hope this gets fixed soon, this isn't only effecting drivers, sailors, and fliers. Its effecting businesses too.
Like driving unwanted traffic to parcels that have a rent sign on the map but its no longer for rent.. things like that.
I sold a parcel to someone over 30 days ago now and they are stuck with my old skysign, I feel horrible as its probably getting them traffic they aren't wanting.

I bought some land 16 days ago that has a sky sign above it that I cant get rid of. The skysign reads.... ***** SEX
So I think I'll turn the place in to an afk sex zone (Plague of SL) until the map tiles get fixed. *searches marketplace for login tip jars*

    Please fix map tiles 😒

Edit: Look even the forums stars out the word... but yet I'm stuck with it above my parcel.... lmao

  4. I often take the time to decorate land that I have for sale or rent. I don't agree with this.

Nearly all my land is for sale or rent. If someone buys it they return my rental meter. If someone rents it I take it off the market. (I do not price my land at ridiculous prices with intentions to have it show up in search) My prices are within Market range and often lower than other bigger sellers.

I like to deco and landscape sometimes and I'm very against skyboxes at ground level and ugly platforms and such.

If someone buys my land I usually give them the option to keep and use my deco (very often the reason why they buy it is because they loved the deco) when this is the situation I will also offer them the option to share my deco to their group (if they deed land to group) so they can move my items around if they want. The only time I will remove is if the person puts the land back up for sale using my deco as their selling point.

  5. Disclaimer: I did not read all the posts here.

I personally like the Yavascript PODs. there has been plenty of times when im bored out roaming around one crosses my path and I will hop in it and take a ride hopping out somewhere else.

Sure they aren't occupied all the time but they are definitely being used a lot. Perhaps short rides like I often do.

I think if everyone started to do this it would be a problem. I bought the POD system myself years ago but I don't have any roaming around across multiple sims like Yavanna does.

My thought is its already been done... Let Yavanna run the PODs since its her baby. We don't need 100-1000 more people putting POD or POD type transportation around at least on a big scale like she has set up. You can visit some of her POD depot spots and it has a map showing all the PODs scooting around and even shows when someones sitting in one.

I think on a smaller scale its ok for others to set some up. But not on a giant scale like Yavanna has. Let her do that until she stops doing it.. :P

I used to have PODs set up on a water parcel I was renting, they would go off the the neighboring water parcels 5-6 sims and come back. I had a few people hop in them.

The POD system is fun to play with, I made some little mesh ball robot type things and made them zoom around my parcel just for fun.

The grid is overloaded with bots, AFK-campers and Chicken Littles.

I'm willing to bet at least 5000 of them, are bots and multi client AFK parkers.

SL has been on a slow (very slow) decline for many years.  That is no secret.  The charts show that the logins are pretty consistent, even if it is a slight downward trend.  Even so, SL still has a lot of years left in it.

I wish they would spend a little bit of this money and do some advertising like in the old days. With all the progress SL has gone through and all the newer content like mesh bodies and heads... its sure to bring in some new people if they would just spend a few bucks on an advertising campaign and if the community is willing to help new people with the learning curve.

Let's not forget those thousands of so-called "Traffic bots" from around 2007 who were members in all sorts of groups. I am sure many of those zombie accounts still exist, and still use resources that could be used otherwise. So why not simply clear out all inactive accounts that haven't logged in for let's say 5 years? Would that be an idea?

If that was the case I would have lost my account. Im glad they don't clear inactive accounts like that I was inactive for 5-6 years. Leave the group cleaning up to the group owners. Not hard to filter your member list and bulk boot inactives all in one swoop. I can teach you how if needed.

The thread wants what the thread wants.

Threads go off topic from time to time and as long as they don't stay off topic for too long, it's not a problem. It usually will swing back to the original topic on its own but sometimes the Lindens have to step in and remind. It's just the "nature of the beast".

    Fitting quote? :P

I have premium, I dont really use all of my slots and Im a massive shopper. But I also have basic accounts, with lots of paid group stores and the ones I delete and rejoin because those are free groups. Again, that's not really a plan, is not fixing the issue I mentioned before, that's a decision they made and it doesn't look like they even thought about paid groups.

I think thats on the group owners and people joining them more than on LL. I get why some people charge a small fee to eliminate spammers from joining the group and some charge a fee because they give items away like Truth Hair which makes it worth it. But I think the smaller people maybe need to rethink their Pay to join method of managing their group unless they want less people to join it.

Because large group owners like to boast over how many people are in their groups, regardless of the zombies. Its a social acceptance thing... look my groups better than yours, it has more members!!

I know that. But again, that's not a plan. The question is to "try" make them understand that issue and think of a solution for that.

The plan is to move basic members to 35 groups. 🤨

That question has been asked 52 times already and answered 4-5 times. Whats you plan? :D The solution is to leave some groups and choose wisely or pay for more groups 😑

If I could I would give you some of my free group slots. I don't need the extra myself. Groups and group notices just annoy me :P

Then, what's the plan with people with that current amount of groups, paid groups?? What will happen to people who already have 42 groups and only a couple of free groups to join and rejoin???

This was answered 4 or 5 times already. Its not different than if you are a premium member with 60 groups and you go back to basic.

You would keep your 42 groups as a basic member but would not beable to join any new groups unless you get that total below 35 enabling you to join another. (34 groups)

I'm sure I'm going to be told, again, to shut up by someone but... this is the ugly truth. LL has to make money. LL has to make more money than they currently are. Someone has to pay for Sansar and there is no one else to do that but us. It sucks. I think Sansar should be shut down and be written off. I hated the idea of Sansar from day 1. But... bills still have to be paid and the parent company of Sansar is LL. They could choose to not pay, and go into the red... file bankruptcy, shut off the servers, and the employees can all go get other jobs in Silicon Valley that probably pay them considerably more than LL pays them, and we'd all lose SL.

I'm not willing to do that. People seem to think the Lab made a bunch of flippant decisions and decided to screw over their user base just for fun. I don't think that's true in the slightest. I think no one wanted to charge anyone more money or take anything away from anyone, but it's necessary, and in my opinion, fair.

Go ahead and tell me to shut up if it makes you feel better.

    ......

    Well said.

Maybe for you it is 1-2 hours a day.  Most of my friends list, it is minimum 3-4 hours, if not 8+ hours in that day.  And i am not talking alts, or "sleeping".  Active, working on creating, or dance clubs, or roleplaying, or just...whatever.

Huge portion of SL's population are disabled people too, and I can assure you they are on more than 1-2 hours a day also lol.

This is also the huge portion that struggles with the price increases. Low fixed incomes don't allow for much play money unless you create things and even then now you get the 5% hit.

Edit: but being a disabled creator does cut your costs on having to buy lindens.

Edit again: They are at least logged in for more than 1-2 hours a day even if they are afk 90% of that logged in time.
