I wonder if crypto currency will be under the payment options now.
If he mentioned that, Oberwolf was pretty..cryptic.

I suppose I heard Oberwolf's statement - paraphrased, that the cost of the product / exchange should not "go up" just like, if the place you buy your coffee changes their credit card processor (from "square" in the example), the cost of your coffee would not go up.
And when I heard that, to me it meant "costs will not go up just because of the change".
I GOTTA start using more than 2 brain cells to listen.

FYI, one can use Visa and Mastercard to but Adult items, including porn, at least in California.
Yeah, I never noticed a problem in Florida either, and we're "conservative" here. Not that I buy "porn content" but what I DO buy is ALWAYS rather naughty and generally questionable.

I am not surprised. You might want to look at Qie's rough transcription of what Oberwolf said, above. Seems we both heard the same thing. I was not quoting Oberwolf exactly, of course. Summarizing comments is something reporters also do.
Sid already confirmed, so I believe you. I was probably listening more to his overall "attitude" and "tone" and missed some actual "words". Funny how that happens.
Restarted: He seemed "positive" overall and it just seemed a negative statement at odds with how I perceived what was said. 🙂

It's so refreshing to have a relatively drama-free thread, discussing the future of Second Life!

It's all in the pronunciation, gotta use the "long e" sound and draw it out, ending with "short i" sound:

He did though.
Not a great sales pitch if you're selling something. IJS.

Yeah, I'd have to watch again to catch this part. Not sure I care that much, since I'm barely impacted. Plus, "it could change".
He was pretty much beating around the bush when Strawberry asked about possible increasing costs and fees IMHO.
The next years will give the answers. That's a shame, because they could have "baked into the deal" some stable costs which LL could use as a sweetener with users.
I thought I DID see something in the summary, or elsewhere in/around the video related to either "lower costs" or something..maybe I need to use more than 2 brain cells when listening.

1. Earlier in this thread we were reminded that VRChat signed up as a Tilia customer, but per Oberwolf, Tilia was apparently back down to just SL as its sole customer. Some messy transcription:
(Could just be rhetorical rounding error though, because VRChat still talks about Tilia in its ToS.)
2. About Oberwolf's "doubling-down" on SL. I think it's helpful to hear him present the hopeful side of M&A. In the case of Tilia, it turns a big liability on the Linden balance sheet into, for Thunes, a real asset: money transmitter licensing in the US.
The thing is, if ever there's a Thunes-equivalent for Second Life—another venture that can make SL more valuable for their business than it is as a standalone company—that would likely be for the best, even though it would mean change. I'm not arguing they should sell the place and it's just a nice vibe that he's so enthusiastic about extending its success, I'm just saying businesses don't do M&A to screw over customers.
3. Did I miss mention of Adult content? (I was multi-tasking so I could have spaced it off.)
It took me minute to figure out, "M&A"="Merges and Acquisitions".
Agree on #3. Although I listened with only 1 ear and 2 brain cells, I didn't hear it either.

LL sold Tilia because "it didn't work out, was too expensive to operate, and SL was their only customer." Sounds like Tilia was not profitable, and needed a rescue.
I swear that I did not hear Oberwolf say anything like that. Weird!

If you want to use autoreturn, you'll need to make sure that your alt and you are in a land group together, that everything on the parcel is set to the land group, and then the parcel itself can be set to the land group as well.
54 minutes ago, Sylvia Tamalyn said:(You can also deed or sell the land to the land group if you first donate sufficient land allowance to the group, and you'll get use of a 10% group bonus, but that's a bit beyond what you are asking about here.)
I was thinking of these steps too, basically form a land group, set all objects to the group, deed the land to the group, make sure the Alt is a "Group Owner". (Maybe not in that owner.) Then there's no reason to "sell" the land, and all the objects stay even if otherwise they could cause issues.. Then there is no reason to "sell" the land to the Alt, and the objects "stay" with the land.
Me talk good one day.

I liked how he seems to be interested in owning a virtual world that he is not fully in control of and that he feels SL’s continued existence is important for the world. It demonstrates his motivation for continued ownership, beyond just the bottom line.
True, by comparing Tilia / Thune to "Square", he basically was saying it's not that critical. He didn't use the term I would have used "enabling technology", but similar.
He also was tactful by responding to a concern with "all concerns are valid" then explaining why that specific concern does not apply.

I like how Oberwolf emphasizes that he cares about Second Life.

the scars tell a story,
Here's a possible story the scars could tell to anyone who @Clem Marques meets that doesn't "like" the scars:
1. I got these scars before I met you; I have a life besides my relationship with you.
2. Do me a favor, and treat me in such a way that I do not end up with more scars.

Thank you for the images! The staff is the same, but in the latter Tilia is taken out of anybody's responsibility. Nobody is in charge of Tilia any longer. Note Aston and Johnson were solely assigned to Tilia.
It makes sense that Tilia would be removed from the Org chart the minute it is officially a "separate company".
