How can a Linux user stop viewer's forced updates?
CuriousAboutSL replied to CuriousAboutSL's question in Viewers
Thank you for the heads up. I already accepted your answer as solution (since Sven does not seem to be active here). However, I'd like to also know how the second way is done. Do you or anyone else know? -

I do not usually give cudos on articles of this blog, since the cudos don't go to the winner as it should, but to the poster. However, this is one of the rare occasions, if not the first, when the winner (Caitlin in this case) and the poster (Xiola) deserve equally the cudos. Congrats to both the photographer and the model. -
How can a Linux user cripple official viewer's (linux version) forced updates, like the one 2 days ago? According to a jira comment, this is possible. How? (I need step by step instructions)

Nice avatar. Looks like Xiola in Creepy Crawl. Nice possing. Very nice background too. Great in-season picture overal. The only thing I would change is the title. I would call it: "To be in SL during Halloween or not to be?" Answer: To be! To be! :manwink: :manvery-happy: -

It is! ha This is actually the (well built) haunted house in Carlton town (Adept region). I just checked it few minutes ago. This is a great haunted house, not because it has many things inside, but because it has not more things than it should, like most haunted houses. Many features does not always mean better result. This is creepy. Go during night with a flashlight and watch your steps. oh yeah, nice costume too, Darkmatter -

And then they got married, have children and that was how Adams family started. he he I'm kidding. Seriously now, this is a very interesting poem. How a monster is capable of love, since the definition of a monster is a creature incapable of loving? Unless you mean a creature which did not become monster by choice (I see you wrote the word in quotation marks) pretty much as the Frankenstein's monster (I see stitches on her chest). Thank you for your comment. I hope Zabala has a Second Life account. -

Yes, tell us. I'm curious for the story behind this picture. -
So, practically, it does absolutely nothing more (or different) than what the permalink does. What's the point then? Visually, I still can not see any difference no matter how closely I look. ( I use Linux. Is it a Windows thing? ). Besides, if you need to look really really close, as you said, to recognize a highlighted post, then how that can be called "highlight"? You are right saying it is obscure. It is so obscure, it loses the point. I still believe this button can be eliminated without someone missing it. However, this is not jira for me to make suggestions. I asked a question, you answered and a Linden verified. That's more than enough for me to accept it as solution and thank you. I also gave you kudos for your thing → https://userstyles.org/styles/44855/community-secondlife-com-blue-goo-theme It is actually so nice that -for that alone- makes me happy for starting this issue :-)

Nice Autumn picture indeed. Congrats. I've heard recently so many things about The Trace Too... I should probably visit it someday after October. -

Idyllic. -
First of all, Freya, when you suggest a solution, it should be visible as a separate answer or else the original poster can not select it as a solution (there is no "accept as solution" button here). Maybe you should move it where it deserves. Second, I'm not sure what you're saying is related to the highlight feature.Sure it looks like so, but try also to do the same with a non highlighted post... I think what you described happens because you're using the link of the post (so browser trying to show you the target) either is highlighted or not.

Have you seen it work the way you described it?

Nice ears. Not human... Dark Elf? -
No, it isn't, I was hoping for a quick answer, but apparently this case will remain unsolved, unless someone take it to jira. Thanks for the discussion Rolig.

Which one of two is true? You and I can not know. Sometimes -and this is actually one of those times- only Lindens can answer a question. Do Lindens ever answer questions? (on this section I mean, not on forum) Have you ever seen that?
