It seems that you may be sheltered as well if you get so upset over people on the internet being annoying. It's quite simple to block and derender someone that is vexing. -shrugs-  I can see the irritation for being harassed about your sexuality but if you've ever spent time on any other platform that requires internet and conversing with other people, you would know that its unfortunately the nature of the beast.

I see your point about sexism though. I tend to stick to my shopping events and art installments so I don't see that side as much. If I've ever been harassed, it's not been anything noteworthy as I tend to chalk these things up to be someone who clearly thinks SL is only a platform for pixel sex.

    Just my opinion.

The driver was the crashing issue not the TP issue. I think everyone is confusing the 2 issues as one in the same. They were 2 separate issues.

Issue 1: I would crash when i landed at my friends land.

Issue 2: I could not TP from ONLY MY LAND as i would get stuck in the TP.

Anyway, its moot at this point because both have been resolved and I have stated multiple times that I know it is not my connection for a fact.

  3. I don't really understand your correlation to having sex and being discriminated against for being a woman. As Nikolai stated, there are a lot of of over-sexualized articles of clothing on this game but what was not mentioned is that a lot if the content creators for these items are women. SL has somewhat become a platform for people to explore their sexuality. Of course there are over sexualized items in SL. On any given day the most popular sims in SL are sex related.

I myself have never experienced sexism on SL. I have been on this game (I know people hate calling it that but that's what it is to me) for 7+ years and have never once felt discriminated against for being a female. If anything women receive more from this platform than men as there is more content put out for women.

The only place I have ever heard of as being sexist is a club called Misogyny but that is specifically made for that very purpose.

I keep my ACI at around 200K or lower and also consistently use the "See friends only option" as I attend a lot of shopping events. As far as scripting goes, I try to stay on top of my scripts with a script counter I have and I am not usually using very many. I have also tried logging into an empty sim (Aich) and cleared all cache in case that could be confusing my system in anyway.

Like i've stated, connection would seem like the problem to me if it was happening in other areas as well. My friends and I explore quite a bit by map hopping and the only place I have had this issue is on my parcel. It would seem more likely that it is something other than connection at this point as its isolated to one sim not many.

This doesn't sound like a connection problem to me considering you've had no issues teleporting elsewhere. Out of curiosity what are the specs of your pc or laptop? What settings is your graphics settings on in SL? My old video card used to over heat and it would cause my viewer to crash and even now if I go to a gatcha sim I crash but never anywhere else. Also which viewer are you using?

I do not have access to my computer right now because I am at work but I have a Nvidia GTX 970 graphics card, an AMD 8 core fx pro black edition, 16GB of memory. Which is more than enough to handle SL. Because I know SL to be a computer eater, I leave my settings at Mid-High. I use Firestorm but also tried the official SL viewer and I'm having the same issues.

  6. Again, my connection is not the issue I assure you. SL is not the only game I play and I am not the only gamer in my house so 50mbps works just fine for me. My PC is wired directly to my gateway. It is odd to me that I only have this problem TPing from one SIM only. This is why it does not seem like a connection problem. I would assume that it would effect more than one place that I am trying to TP from if it were a connection issue. However, as stated, this is isolated to my parcel only.

That's almost certainly a connection problem on your end.  Teleporting is a stressful process.  It involves passing all the information about your av (it's capabilities) and its current position and velocity from one region's set of servers to another.  If your Internet connection isn't reliable and strong, you can get lost in that transfer.  Bandwidth is not usually a problem, but stability is.  Avoid using a wifi connection if you can.  Use a cable or DSL connection instead.  Reboot both your router and your modem.  You may find that it's easier to TP if you fly up to 1000m or so first, or if you TP to a quiet mainland region like Smith first.

Its only happening from the sim I rent a parcel on. I have not been able to TP to an empty sim (I use Aich) and my connection is at a constant 50mbps. I have considered connection being an issue but i can TP just fine everywhere else.

  8. I'm not sure if i'm posting this in the right place and I feel it could possibly be my hardware but here goes:

I have been trying to TP to my friend's land to help her with setting up a house. Upon arriving there, I am able to rezz momentarily but soon after I crash. I do not have this issue on any other land and she is running just fine there.

Second issue, when i try to TP from my own land to any other sim, I get stuck in the tp and have to relog.

Any idea of settings, graphics card issues, or server problems that could be causing this?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  9. I had to laugh because Chrome just translated the title in English to "Frying Pan". xD

    Edit::

    Here is the poem:

    The most beautiful eyes
can be green, blue or black
especially can be dark or light

    Whoever knows how to use
    always know love
who knows how to look, counsel knows
who knows understand, you know clarify

    A world without eyes
    is an empty world
in which the truth is not found

The true eyes, are in the soul
    those who little use
    those who are ignored
will always see the truth, life

These days just about every store has a vip group, possibly with some bonus, like discounts, group gifts, store credit, etc, also possibly with a joining fee, if you payed 750 to join the Alice project Group, you don't want to have to leave and rejoin.

There are also shopping groups like SL Free & Offers, or Thirdlife, etc., which news on hot deals, mania boards etc, you dont want to leave those either, and then theres your land groups, rp sim groups, viewer tech support, opencollar blather, etc., etc., etc.,

It's real easy to hit 42 groups now.

I constantly consider Premium for the groups alone! I'm always having to delete free groups. My inner dialog goes something like this:

"So I paid for this group but have they put out a gift for awhile? Hmm not really... but what if they do? Ok so keep that one. Oh a free group, I can delete that and just rejoin later or something... but what if i miss something...."

Its the only trouble my sl has. xD

  11. I think its safe to say that there are still quite a bit of non mesh users. Personally, I could never go back to the system avi's. They're too rough in my opinion. Mesh bodies are smooth and a lot of creators make things for the maitreya, so I chose well. With bento heads being made, I feel like customization and individuality of returned to SL. Before all mesh heads kinda looked the same to me.

As far as clothing goes, I enjoy the more realistic looking clothes that don't look like body paint. Again, this is just my opinion.

I think its to each their own though. Non mesh will never be extinct as long as there are content creators in SL. Maybe endangered, but not extinct. ;)

  12. I'm not sure how you figure that your results won't be reliable by offering payment but unfortunately, you won't be able to find many willing participants otherwise. Most experienced and seasoned residents are tired of the same students or researchers asking the same questions. What would we get out of the interview besides our psyche being dissected by yet another interviewer who has little to no grasp of an online community?

I have seen few to none who have successfully received assistance without compensating for time and information from residents. This is the only sure fire way to have people inform you (nicely) about SL.

P.S: L$1000 is approximately US$5.00 may be worth it to spend a bit to get some info.

  13. To be fair Nickylion, you are not the first to request for users' to be studied. Think about it this way, when you are a student trying to do "research" on an online community, people tend to feel like test subjects being looked at through a glass. Like monkeys in a zoo.

If you want willing participants, maybe offer some sort of payment in exchange for an interview. "Residents" as they are called respond well to compensation.

Good luck and enjoy your stay on SL!

  14. Emmy there are plenty of people who are interested in just changing their avatar and not chatting too too much. I know several people that are perfectly fine having a small circle of friends and just going shopping or standing around with said friends. If you ever need anything, please feel free to message me in world :3

  15. I think that with less residents logged in at any time and with the game being highly occupied by older users and new users interested in adult entertainment, it leaves us somewhat cynical. I tend to keep to myself and my small group of friends, simply because I don't want to participate in adult activities or the club scenes.

SL certainly isn't what it used to be in terms of population either so the pool of people to choose to associate with is less than say 6-7 years ago. Theres definitely been a decline in the number of people logged on at any certain time. Currently (looking right now) there are only 42,000 people logged in. This is including bots as well.

It may be worth a shot going to clubs or places that pique your interest. I have found quiet a few friends at RP sims, shopping events, and club events that I really enjoy the music.

Also, if you ever want to chat, feel free to message me!
