I recommend keeping your account at basic. Your financial situation sounds too precarious for non-necessities. If you have a reversal in fortune, SL will probably still be here, and you can upgrade. You don't need a premium account to enjoy SL and many people do not have one. You will be in good company.

Why are you deleting your account? Did you have a negative experience in SL? Unfriendly residents? Too much lag? Not enough interesting activities?

The L$ should be allocated on the basis of effective altruism, not on the basis of who asked first. Specifically, who will do the most good with the funds. Each person that wants to be considered as a recipient should submit a 500 word post explaining why they should be selected.
