Hi Theresa Tennyson! I tried your first suggestion, and the land says it is group owned, so those options are greyed out. I am renting land. I thought there was no such thing as actually owning land in SL. I checked on your second suggestion and you're right, I already have "Teleport to clicked point" set in my Preferences. Since I couldn't get into the skybox I IM'd both of the creators of the skybox, but they're off-line. Although I don't know the proper way to get into it, I did manage to get in. This is how I did it - I fly right underneath it, then I right-click it and Edit, then I move it down so I am inside it, then I go out of edit mode, and stop flying, and I land on the floor. :matte-motes-smile: Then back t oyour suggesstion: I double-click the floor, created a new LM, added it to favs, but even standing right there and clicking TP; I end up back on ground level. :matte-motes-crying: ~Bleue

Okaaaay, since I've made a fool of myself all day here I will continue to do so - I am really working toward the noob of the year award; I think I have a pretty good chance of winning with all this nonsense. :matte-motes-sour: I put my skybox up there. There are no instructions with the skybox. I can see inside it by going through the wall with my camera, and when in there I right clicked and said "sit", but it didn't put me in it. There is no option to "touch" when I right-click the skybox itself. From the outside there appears to be no entrance. How do I get inside my skybox? Hi Madelaine McMasters! This worked very well, thank you. At first it was odd, cuz I did your steps but I would fall from 3000 to about 1900, before coming to rest in the fly position. I thought maybe that was the max allowed fly altitude, but manually I found that I could fly higher, so I did, and then yes, I was able to find my platform. But it's strange to me that I can't TP here. I guess I'll have to fly up here everytime; maybe it's too high to TP to. ~Bleue

Holey moley! My LM doesn't work! When I TP to it I end up just on ground level, on my property. So then I tried to edit my location, by standing under where I know my platform is, and making the Z coordinate a number slightly higher than the height of my platform, and it TPs me into the sky for sure, but I just fall, all the way back to earth. Did it not save it cuz my Firestorm crashed? ~Bleue

Thank you! So, I have a high threshold for pain, apparently. I'm pretty sure that's why I've managed to survive in SL this long (5 weeks now). I MANUALLY moved the box I was sitting on, as much as I could by zooming all the way out, then editing the box, then clicking the Z blue thing, then dragging it up as high as I could, then hitting escape, then zooming all the way out again, and repeating. With that method I went up like 40 feet at a time. It was hecksa tediouso but I got up to 3000 that way. lol Thank you for the page up technique when switching from sitting to standing; that will come in handy. But I hadn't read that, and my coordination skills leave a lot to be desired, so I would not have taken that on a maiden voyage in my current predicament. So there I was, but now I was afraid to stand up. Also I've never flown; I tried it once and it didn't seem to work. So in my brilliance I put my goth chair on the same box I was sitting on, and without un-sitting i sat on that. Then I edited my box thingy to make it wider than it was, just to be sure, and I made a Landmark, and I Favourited that LM, just to make sure I could get back here if it all went horribly awry. Then I stood up! Voilà! Whew. I am up here now, nice view! Well, I should say I was up there, darn it, my Firestorm just crashed. Good thing I made those LMs. Hopefully I can get back up there without having to repeat the same process... omg this is soooo frustrating and difficult for me. Thank you for the quick replies, and for being nice too - I am soooo embaressed to even have to ask the question. So I did the 1-Z-at-a-time method, and now I'm 55 in the air. And now I can sit on it! So now I'm on step 4. Just to make sure things went smoothly, I did an Edit on the box I'm sitting on, changed the Z by one, but I stay sitting in space now, just under the box. The step says I will TP with the box height. I am afraid if I make Z 1024 it will go up and leave me behind! Why doesn't it take me with it? Also, since I'm sitting on it, on the edge, when I do get up there, and click "Stand", won't I by standing NEXT TO the box, and therefore plummet back to earth? ~Bleue

Hello everyone! I am trying to place a skybox, so I did a search and am following the directions here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-move-a-build/ta-p/919109#Section_..4.2 So easy peasy, right? Well, brainiac girl over here can't SIT on the box I created - I'm on step three below: Rez a cube near the center of your destination parcel.Resize it to 10x10x0.5 m or whatever fits your needs. You may prefer to rez multiple prims so that you have a rough idea where your borders are. (You can also tell by looking at the menu bar: if the info changes to a neigboring parcel's as you fly or walk, you've obviously traveled beyond the limits.)Sit on this prim.Right-click the prim and select Edit.Under the Object tab, change Position Z to the desired height of your skybox and press Enter. This will be near the lowest or "baseline" height upon which your skybox will be rezzed. You will also be transported into the sky almost instantly.Click the Stand button towards the bottom of your screen.Try dragging a test object (not your skybox) from inventory. Notice how the cursor changes to show you can rez when you position it on top of another object. Practice this at least a few times. When I try to sit there is says: "No room to sit here, try another spot". I clicked all over the cube; on the edges, in the center, made it bigger, wider, etc. No dice. Phantom is not checked. I made the box 0.5 tall, and I am definetly stepping up to walk onto it; meaning it is solid. So I tried a few things, like standing on it, and then editing the box and increasing the Z coordinate. That works fine, except I can only up in increments of 1, or I fall through the bottom. It might just take me forever to get up to 1024 that way, lol. So I put a chair on it and sat in the chair. But when I change the Z coordinate on the box, the chair remains fixed in space. So then I moved the Z coordinate of the chair, but I didn't stay attached to the chair, even though I was sitting in it. omg. leave it to me to take something so simple and prbbly fundamental to SL and not be able to figure it out. :smileyfrustrated: Sorry this is so basic, could someone please help me? Hello everyone!!! (sorry if this should go in Merchant area, but I think I'll get better results here since I'm not asking about a specific product?) So when I started here 4 weeks ago I'd search MP and see both the LL$ and the cost converted into my currency. Sometime over the last two days I now see only the LL$, and sure I have a rough idea but until I check-out I don't really know. Hi everyone! Just wondering how long I can play the noob card (I'm now 4 weeks old, yippee!). So I bought something on MP, and I enter the commands in "Nearby Chat", but nothing happens. Does anyone have any knowledge about this - I've been successful with other things, like my firefly emitter. I tried several combinations, of everything I could think of based on what the notecard said, with and without spaces, etc. For example, if the channel were, 12, I type (I'm standing next to the thing, and I'm on land I own, scripts are allowed, and I'm typing in "Nearby Chat"): /12#on And the statement disappears, which is good, meaning it didn't just say it as conversation, but rather it took it as a command. But nothing happens. And I try other commands (colour, wind, gravity, etc.), nada. I try /12 #on, /12 # on, /12# on, /12 <return> #on, etc. etc. Thanks for the help, and have a grey8 SL Day! Bleue

Yep, I definetly shoulda put this in employment. The "bodygaurd" thing was my hook, and it sure worked, but maybe not quite as I intended. I figured once you read it what I was looking for would be pretty clear; sorry if I confused anyone. Hi Amethyst Jetaime!!! Thank you so much for always taking the time to answer my question. I feel you are my personal advisor on all things SL! I have ben spending some great fun times in 1920 Berlin with the other kids, some of whom live in the orphanage there. I will look into if they will accept me there - however strict dress code always means making sure you arrive with the correct outfit on, and many of my clothes would just not do. :matte-motes-smile: Thank you also to Theresa Tennyson for your reply. I think it used to teleport me to my last location, which is usually a good choice. I will try to set it that way for now while i find a more permanent home. Hello everyone!! How hard could it be? Sigh. I can't seem to find a teleport home. It says I need to be at a "mainland infohub" (I don't own land) when I try click "World" then "Set home to here". I went to destinations, did a search on "mainland infohub", and teleported to someplace called "Welcome Area, Morris". It's "G", which is what I want, as I'm playing a child avi (although the language the ppl are using is atrocious, so i just need it as a starting point and then i'll quickly teleport away. I'm not opposed to bad language, it's the sentences around them which are reaaaaally annoying. however, i'd much prefer a more sedate home port if you can please recommend one). I know this is bloody simple but I can't find the infohub. Even on my world map there's an icon (in the legend, and yes, it is checked) for infohub, but i don't see that icon on the actual map. I read some posts and infohubs may be a thing in the LL past, but then how do we set a teleport home to start at (after the browser crashes) if i'm homeless? =( Okay, well, sorry for dorky question and have a grey8 SL day!!! :smileywink:

Hi Perrie! Thank you for your reply! Waiting for me? No one is waiting for me, LOL. I do now have a few friends in-game though, which is very nice. What i mean though is it considered rude to just be there, taking up space? like when i go somewhere, someone owns that property, right? and they may, or may not, want people who aren't actively doing something to just hang out there. i'm sure its case by case, but in general i was wondering what most ppl do. i just want to be respectful, and i like to leave it running in case i get messages or something interesting comes by so i check often, but sometimes not so often. Now i remember (you prbly responded to my other post) that i didnt know why i had text in my hUD, and it was from a group and had joined. so now i know how to turn that off and on. i'll give that a try. I looked up alt and it says "alternate account". Why do ppl have two accounts? does it cost more i assume? i dont even have a premium account yet, but i'm seriously considring it, and a lot of that is because of how helpful everyone here in the forums, and the few ppl i've met out in real SL too, hahaha!! is it to do with the "transfer" thing? like, can you give something to your other account that you couldnt give to a random SL'r, or are the two accounts independent? And is there a way to set a message on your HUD or have an automatic notecard available to a fellow resident who wanders by which would explain your situation in your absence? Like it could say you have the owner's permission to be there, or you're asleep and will wake up at such-and-such time? i should prbly post that question as a new topic i guess... anyhow thanks everyone and have a spektakularly gray8 day!!!!! :catvery-happy:

Hi everyone!!! Me here. Yes, again. So yes, I know avis can die, and it's no big deal, you just respawn wherever. I'm just wondering WHY i died? I walked away from my computer, thought i'd be right back, then came back much later and the nearby chat said that i had died. i had already respawned elsewhere, and appeared in perfect health. lol Anyway, there was no comments from anyone, so i don't think someone came up and randomly killed me, without first saying something? does that happen? there were no messages from anyone during that time. and nothing that said why i died. I was in a Moderate area, and no one was there when i teleported, and when i teleported back no one was near my spawn/death point. of course that doesnt mean someone didnt kill me since i wasn't looking. Is killing allowed in Moderate, or just Adult? I RP as a 10 year old - i should have mentioned that first - so (a) i never go to adult places and (b) isnt it considered very uncool to try to kill someone who isn't fighting back, especially someone who'se a kid?!? i have no weapons, and, trust me, do not appear manancing or violent in the slightest. Dang, what a corwardly thing to do to me!!! Or did i just run out of air or something? lolz As always, thanks a bunch for the help guys, and have a gray8 day!!! :matte-motes-grin:

I met someone in New Babbage who gave me some great advice and a notecard from someone who knows how hard it is to RP as a child. i didn't join SL to RP - i wasn't sure 2 weeks ago what that even meant. i barely know now, as i experenced it a little at 1920's Berlin kids day. And that was mind blowing and absolutely fascinating to me - def unlike anything i have experienced!!! but... it wasn't ME. i'm like a cyber punk dork into goth and stuff. I know, weird and boring, just like in RL. I'm not sure i want to RP some one else's story. i obviously dont really understand RP yet. i thought it would be cute and fun to have a kid avatar, more as a toy than a "being" i project myself onto. so i expected to pretty much just be myself when talking to ppl, not acting like a 10 year old. Here in SL obviously that's a big no-no - you have to be perfectly in character all the time. And, and this is very important (understandably) - you have to keep it clean: no adult places, activities, or talk. i have no problem with that; i'm not interested in any of that nonsense. lol I guess im the rare exception, if the outfits in marketplace are any indication. i mean no offense in that; everyone who is here has what they want to experience and thats fair enough. But still i dont know that i'm going to do a sim. i just like to hang out and talk and shop for clothes. hey, pretty much what i want to do in RL! lolz Anyway, i dunno about all this now. Everyone seems freaked about violating TOS, and its rubbing off on me. i have already spent money and more importantly time. i have a cute avi. now i wonder if i accidentally put an adult ao on her will i get my account, time and money terminated. worse yet if it can all be taken away becuz some predator scum says something stupid to me - it all seems very risky to invest in, doesn't it? i know, since i dont know what an object or script is for, or is going to do, i shouldnt risk touching/wearing/adding the thing or interacting with it at all. hey honestly, i see a pose ball, and i go, "Hey, what's that, over there?!? I think I'll go check it out!" So i go over and finally figure out which button to click to interact with it, and its a sex pose stand. Ooops. Then i read that the ever watchful admins are quick to suspend/terminate accounts for that activity. Now i'm def seeing why ppl are freaked - i honestly never imagined the age thing would be such a cause for both discrimination and fear, especially not in something like SL, in which i interpreted the entire intention to be free (i.e. non-discrimanatory of diversity) and to provide a virtual ability to embrace a second chance at a part of life you either didn't get a chance to experience, or you did but it didn't go (nearly) as well as you had hoped. I really just wanted to be a younger version with my essence from a bygone era of my life and be free and cute and innocent with a cool house and lots of clothes and to dance, dance dance. :cattongue: omg what a terrible ramble - i'm sure to get majorly flamed for all this spouting off. i thought about deleting the post but now i bet i'm on the typical bubble of many a newcomer - realizing the effort that this requires, but having glimpsed the incredible nature of what it can deliver, and having to decide to embrace it, stay on the fringe, or run far, far away. Sorry for the epic offtopicness of it all... i'll work it out - not to worry. After all, i can always just... grow up. :smileysurprised:
