  1. I had used the USPTO website search and it yielded no results in the basic search. I feel that perhaps the individual in question feels that by putting a "TM" in the name automatically trademarks the name, so no worries! Thanks for your help, you two!
  2. Hello. I had just recently received a message from another store owner that because the name of a product line in my alt's store and her store's name are the same (except for one capitalized letter) that she would like for me to change it, especially since hers has been around longer and she claims to have the name trademarked. I told her that since there is no conflict of interest between our two businesses that I have no intention of changing it at this time. She said she'll let her lawyers know. I did some snooping around to see what all her business was: 1. This user's account is a few years older than my alt's. I'm not sure where to look up a store's age (even my own!). 2. I found no proof of trademarking her store's name except for a "TM" in her store's group's description. Then again, not sure where I would look for official, legal proof of this either. 3. Her store only exists on the Marketplace and has only one item in it, which is a product celebrating this new year. I found no in-world existence of this store. The only reference to it on her profile is in the group list. This leads me to believe this is a new store, in contrast with my several-months-old store with dozens of products listed on the MP and in-world, and that I shamelessly promote in my profile description and picks list. 4. Her store's group has only 2 members in it (including the owner) and has a description very similar to my store's group's. Mine only has 3-4, but I don't do much to promote it anyway since most of my sales are from the MP. :p If by some chance this is actually real, what do I need to do to prepare for any legal action? Personally, I think this is an empty threat by someone who feels that my store is competition, despite selling incredibly different products; or wants kicks and giggles. Thanks, Ales
  3. I keep my store's inventory organized similar to how the Marketplace is set up. An example is:: #DiGi //this is the store folder in my inventory. The # infront of the name keeps it up at the top of my inventory. Projects Body Female //I place hair, shapes, and skins for women in here Male //Men's hair, shapes, and skins go here Unisex //Unisex things, such as eyes, tattoos, freckles, and some hair, go here Clothing Female //Women's clothing and accessories go here Male //Men's clothing and accessories go here Unisex //Clothing and accessories for both genders go here Releases //I place all projects ready for release in this folder. I also have my manual notecards here for quick access when I'm releasing a new product. It's set up the same way as Projects Components //Here is where textures, prims, and other parts for my products go. It's set up identical to Projects, with each Project having a corresponding Component subfolder Modeling //I put 'model outfits' here to quickly swap between when photographing stuff. I also keep all my poses and pose stands here for my avatar to use during photo shoots. Hope it helps!

If there really is a direct access via the Firestorm AO I must have a very blonde moment with it. Anyway, thanks for the replies, I will check out if there is some moderatly priced Vista AO. You can directly select the animation in Firestorm's AO. Double-click on the animation you want after you placed it in Firestorm's AO and it will play what you selected. You can disable cycling so that it plays only that animation. Cheers, Ales
  5. Hi, guys. I'm trying to make a worn object that will make a squeaking noise when an avatar collides with something or someone. So far, I've been able to make a wooden block that squeaks when something hits it. I reasoned that if I can make a custom collision box for an avatar using this block, that it will squeak whenever something touches it. When worn, the collision box makes no noises. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Ales

This is why she needs to make more friends, explore the world, and maybe do a little research about things she's curious about. OP, there are some things you're not going to learn overnight, even with someone showing you. Sometimes you need to experiment for yourself.
  7. So... Why not someone who'll help you out for free? o.0 Since you're really put off by the idea of meeting new, helpful friends (*pouts*), why not try joining New Citizens Inc. (NCI)?
  8. Get a friend, an axe, and some glue. Nix off the parts you don't want visible and glue the rest together.
  9. Vollrath wrote: Yes, rezzing on a non-mesh object, when this is happening, works. Are you using the most recent viewer? Have you tried replicating this on an earlier version of that viewer? What about on a different viewer? Oh, and have you cleared your cache? :smileysurprised:
  10. Jennifer Boyle wrote: paint.net is great. You can download it for free from http://www.getpaint.net/. I don't know why it doesn't get more recognition. It will certainly do waht you want. AMEN! I've been using Paint.NET for years, and I can do everything that Photoshop does with it. Plus, it's free! It is a wonderful tool for image editing/creating. That signature image I have, btw, was made in Paint.NET with a fairly simple tutorial. PS. GIMP's interface is clunky and awkward. D: *runs away from GIMP fans*
  11. Vollrath wrote: Yeah, it's always places I have rights to. Otherwise, sl would just say, 'can't rez'. I'm getting something like, 'failed to rez...NOM' Interesting. Are you able to create a prim 'rezz platform' and place it near your mesh structure, rezz on the platform, and then move the stuff to wherever it needs to go? Does that cause the same results? Maybe SL is hungry.
  12. Yep, sounds like it's something on SL's end (big surprise, huh?). Have you tried replicating this error on another viewer or computer? On another note, this was in my head when I read the topic title... What does it MEAN?!?!
  13. Dilbert Dilweg wrote: That PC looks like it can handle Sl very well. The video card is a little bit on the lower end but will run SL fine. Sl runs good with a quad core CPU. Not sure how well the card will handle shadows. I dont use Radeon my self Looks like it has a Radeon HD6670 and is optomized for video processing. As an fyi, I use a Radeon HD 6670. It's a very good video card for playing games, including Second Life. With 4gb RAM and an i3 processor, I can play most (if not all) current PC games on either high or very high graphics settings with reasonable FPS. The only issues I have with SL with this setup is the network connection, but that's not really my fault.
  14. I've had this happen before, but not when rezzing on a mesh thing. It was because my parcel forgot, for a second, that I am in the group that can rez stuff there. Do you have the right permissions to rezz things at that location?
  15. I tried to find 'Milk' both on the Marketplace and in-world search. I couldn't find any results that were Japanese, or even asian at all. Plenty of adult-themed stuff, though. o.0 May you send me the slurl to the one you're thinking of? I've decided that it may be best to create my own custom face instead. My plan is to use a skin whose body I like and make a face tattoo that blots out all facial features and 'reskins' the face to the skin tone the rest of the body uses. I will then add animated prim eyes, a simple triangular prim nose, and a simple prim mouth to the face. Hopefully this works.
