  1. I would recommend some of the other external forums or blogs. Traffic is much higher than inworld spots and with search being the way it is etc in SL you probably would get better returns.   I probably am not allowed to name them but if you google am sure you will find your way to them.  I advertised on one and had far better results than using MP or Classifieds.

  2. I think it depends on the item.   For my Prefabs in Mesh I do baked illumination with shadow but a simple click turns them to "off" so it scripted in.  There are a still a ton of avatars who seem to want the effect.  So I provide both options on the same build.

  3. First - OP face falm - Valve I am sure by now have the link from somebody so guess either way they will either ignore or file the takedown under DMCA etc.

In relation to the theft part...if that is the case why did they actually name a bill with Digital + Theft in it? I have always wondered that when the old argument of theft/infringement comes up.

H.R. 3456, the Digital Theft Deterrence and Copyright Damages Improvement Act of 1999.  etc etc.

  4. I can't say I recognise it sorry and am pretty good normally with houses!  The texture looks like a Gnubie one on the wall but that doesn't really give many clues.  Have you tried doing a search on marketplace for something like white house, beach house etc and if it's a while ago the picture sort by age and do older buildings first so reverse order.

  5. I use the CSV export option and then use CasperVend - I take a monthly download and load it there so I can see my Marketplace + Inworld Sales etc.   It's worked well for me and I also downloaded my full back history into it.  I don't think you need to use the inworld vendor bit to use the above - but it's for sale on Marketplace if that helps.

I also keep simple backups each month of the CSV to view if ever needed on my harddrive and a simple Excel template with pivot tables set up.

  6. Hi Katya

My old sim did this for a bit.   I had to get it restarted and it cleared it up.  If you are the Estate Owner you can do this yourself in the Region/Estate settings.

As it sounds like when they TP back it works that might resolve all, but would also check the parcel settings they TP into to ensure all the voice settings are set as they should be etc.

Hope it get's resolved for you!

  7. I can't answer for sure, but I recently did a mass SURL update to mine.    They did "seem" to lose ranking for about 24 hours then ranking seemed to even out again.  I got on front page again on the same property that was there previously.

Not a scientific answer from my side somebody else may know :/

  8. I had a similar issue a while back.

I removed the group I was wearing, cleared cache (you will find this in your preferences by the Network information) and then relogged.  It cleared it up and I never did get to the root cause.

You can then test at this SURL which is a confirmed build enabled Sandbox.   http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sandbox%20ABC/73/90/1002

Then if that works, try at your apartment.

Other things to check is whilst at your apartment ensure you have the group selected for the land there as that may have specific restrictions.

  9. Ditto here, I have so far got 3 houses ready to go for Mesh but am holding them back until the market feels right.   It's been really inspiring to test them and see what can be done but I think it will be a few months in before I put them out.

My other goal for 2012 is to move into avatars/mesh etc.  I have created my first line but still a LONG way to go - fingers crossed I'll achieve it!

  10. I think they cover both inworld and marketplace if "fraud".

However, before people just into it's "fraud" - As creators we do our best (most of us!) to ensure delivery.  We provide contact information, try to advise people to avoid multiple purchases in a shopping cart on marketplace and buy one by one.  Through to daily checking all sales to ensure purchases made it to the purchasers in the case of Marketplace.   I also use vendors that track success of delivery and allow auto redelivery by the purchaser if they can't reach me inworld.

However, sometimes SL just fails including IMs not making it through (hence why most Merchants have specific contact information and also how to deal with non response e.g. an IM goes missing or notecard).

A honest merchant will always try to resolve it as soon as they can possibly can.  If they don't answer within 48 hours try again, and if they consistently fail to answer after 3 attempts that is when I personally would raise a ticket to say non delivered items.  It still may not be fraud (they could be sick, on holiday etc) but Linden can then at least check / assist. Again a good merchant will put on on their profile any planned time offline - but the unexpected can always happen e.g. lost internet connect that hinders them.

Also as somebody said about do your research check the creator's profile before purchase as it will give you some insight into their set up, store information, length of time they have been operating etc.

  11. I have been in both camps, owned sims for my prefabs, and then only sold on MP.  Now I am a hybrid, a smaller inworld presence laid out to display builds on demand.

My prices are VERY low as my overheads are minimal and I prefer to pass that on.  Weirdly, my sales were never better than when just Marketplace and have not increased with inworld presence.  However I really like the idea of the demo and now am going to offer this both from my sim and also from Marketplace - it's the bit about people test driving it on their own land that sold me :)
