    Meet Vivian.

She is from LAQ.  If you want to increase age even more, try LAQ's age appliers.

I have that head, it's awesome. If you can't fork out for a bento head or expensive skin applier for a mature look, Izzie's has affordable wrinkle appliers with a ton of options (also available as tattoos for system avatars).

  2. I mainly wear sci-fi / fantasy / post-apocalyptic clothing, depending on my mood. Sometimes I see stuff in those styles in stores and it is revealing, if I like it I will buy it anyway. I was wearing a more revealing outfit one day and a guy IMed me and hit on me. I told him I wasn't interested and he said "Well what are you doing dressed like that then?" I hadn't been overly concerned about him hitting on me, but that statement was very..... worrying.

What is everybody (or maybe not everybody) standing point if somebody do a patreon clone where the artist can be receiving donations?

I don't think many people would be keen on that, there have been too many scams in SL. If you just want to have a Patreon because you are a struggling artist, and may occasionally release something that people may or may not be interested in, nah, SL people aren't going to go for that and of course Klytyna has already outlined a lot of issues for people trying to sell art in SL. If it's money you're after and you can't cash out or whatever I really don't understand why you would need Patreon when there are other ways for a talented person to earn money from SL residents that doesn't involve having a shop or selling on the marketplace. There have been creators in SL do amazing real life artwork for commissions through Paypal  (painting someone's avatar, or their pets, promoting on Flickr where lots of SL residents are), and of course if you are skilled with mesh or even textures you can do custom work for real money.

If by "I made this" you mean "exported a Daz/Marvelous library purchase", sure thing.

Great point, and I have heard accusations of designers taking models directly from Daz / Renderosity because of their use of renders to market products.

I just flew all around Brown, clicking on the land info here and there.  All of them showed no covenant (shown below), which would explain why LL isn't actually enforcing anything.

Oh yes, sorry, covenant is the wrong word. It is zoning guidelines, provided in a notecard. It says that the regulations will be enforced.

Covenants much be enforced. Themed locations present a very difficult subjective burden on support staff.

It's great that groups of residents have banded together in some sims to do what the Labs aren't resourced to do. Boardman would be the shining example of that, and Iris is great and it doesn't even have a covenant. Small parts of Bay City look amazing and are probably as LL envisaged, the rest of it.... not so much.

I imagine it was quite hard for the Boardman Preservation Society to acquire so much land there. The old Ingrid Ingersoll and Barnesworth Anubis builds are stunning and I really wish you could still get them (if anyone knows if some of them are still available anywhere, please let me know!). But despite the efforts of the society, some other land owners have put up ugly builds that do meet the covenant rules (as is their right, they probably think they look great), so I don't believe it's possible to have a truly themed sim on the mainland unless one individual or group owns all the land. And one point about Boardman is that it doesn't really have a "lived in" feel, so the preservation is only aesthetic.

Despite some of the themed locations not quite working out as intended, I still think it would be great if LL took this kind of more planned approach for future sims. The suburbs are a free for all but still very appealing with their suburban streets. Sims without roads are pretty awful in my opinion, and it's beyond me why they have released so many dreadful wastelands.

Unrelated, but that's a nice house at a prime location.

Isn't it just? Way too good to give up even with that guardrail issue, and such amazing work decorating and laying it all out, I am very impressed.

[* EDIT - Not including Linden Homes continents where skyboxes are explicitly forbidden by covenant. Also, I'm not sure about Brown, Boardman, and De Haro regions, which are handled very differently from the rest of Mainland, so they may restrict skyboxes, too, I'm not sure.]

I own land in Brown, which has the same covenant as Boardman. They are not allowed, the covenant says all buildings must be attached to the ground, and that will apparently be enforced. I know some rental tenants there have them. In my experience LL does not respond to reports of breaches of the covenant in Brown (and no, I have not bothered reporting silly things like skyboxes which don't effect me), which is a shame because people pay extra for land there because there is a covenant. So I might go forth with my post apocalyptic / zombie build there j/k

  9. I'm not a fan of it either. The renders I mean, those shoes are a nice design, not everything has to look like it was bought at the mall. I don't understand why so much stuff does.

Photobashing and overpainting are also signs to me that your product may not end up looking like the ad. Of course I am going to try the demo, but guaranteed if you've done that stuff to something like a skin applier ad it is going to look nothing like what you promised. I know designers need to make their stuff stand out amid the mass of other products, and all the stunning pictures on Flickr, but good SL photography and nice design can work just as well.

  10. Alright, I have my industrial / urban skybox all decided! I am using my existing prefab and I purchased Chic Aeon's metro subway with the 64m city night surround (which is a really cool low LI subway in a big skybox, you can choose different sizes). Filling it in with the city skyscrapers as background and a few urban things, and leaving some open space for simple building tasks and rezzing photo backgrounds.

But what I like to see is a system whereby 3 strikes and you're out,  if LLs get a complaint and it can be proven then once that person gets three complaints of deliberately causing mayhem from 3 different locations and incidences naming him or her   he\she should be a warning and on the 2nd they will be banned and I mean banned via IP address to other.

LL already IP and hardware bans griefers , but determined griefers know how to get around those bans and come back on new accounts. So I don't know what good your proposed warning system would do if you are dealing with a "pro griefer".

    Greetings Eve,

Here is something from our very own "Chic Aeon".

    https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/The-Warehouse-ChiC-buildings-V2/4443459

Oh nice, I didn't realise she did a skybox that included the city surrounds. I have been struggling to find the right skybox too and had been thinking of using a regular industrial style prefab that I already have (Meshworx Urban Oasis) then surrounding it with her city lights... and doing some other stuff to make it like a skybox, I dunno!

I couldn't find the Warehouse to view.  Lots of other fantastic buildings but I could only find the vendor on the wall for it, not the LM in the notecard in order to view it in world.

I am sure that if you message Chic Aeon she will either tell you where you can view it, or rez it for you.

    Hi everyone.

I've been in and out of SL since 2007. This time around I'm finding it really difficult to find the type of building that I'm looking for.  On the MP it's taking me days to trawl through thousands of listings only to discover most of them don't have in world stores for me to view their designs.  I won't buy anything unless I can purchase a demo OR I can see it rezzed in world.

I know that you can't recommend specific designers in the forum here, but I was wondering if there was a blog which might help me?  Or an in world group where I can join to find out about current building designers?

Thanks for any help in advance.

People are able to suggest specific designers in this subforum, as per the participation guidelines. I'd be interested to hear suggestions too.

Trompe Loeil had an industrial style sky box recently, I don't know if they have it rezzed in world though, it was released at an event.

Here is a good blog for releases of furniture and buildings, you can search it https://www.lovetodecoratesl.com/

You are out of LI - the main problem is the large number of lavender planters you have rezzed out at 4LI each

In good news for the original poster, there are heaps of places you can get quite nice 1LI mesh plants these days, including in planters. It is definitely possible to furnish a 512 and have a few plants as well, it just requires a bit of planning and careful shopping.

  15. Nobody here has tried Gabriel? My male alt has a very pale skin, almost gothic look and I get most of his stuff there. There is definitely a lot more there than boardshorts and tank tops. Suits, gothic looking stuff, there was even a vintage / Victorian looking suit at one stage. Some of it is in gachas but you can just search for what you want on the marketplace if you don't want to play them. Shi has some unconventional stuff for men as well.

Ive already made clothes before but I don't sell them cause no one uses standard stuff anymore. I need something to make money off of cause I have rent to pay ingame and cant pay it when I have a bunch of crap in my ingame store that no one wants.

Kemono is a bit of a niche market you could tap into that does not require you to apply for a dev kit. Look at the sort of stuff that is popular for it, or for gaps in the market. Not being able to have a marketplace store will put you back, sure, but if you advertise in other ways maybe you can make your rent.

Less than that. More like $29 dollars

So 60 accounts at $72 = $4320 a year to pre pay premium for all of them. Thats per year.

Then we take into account the money we get back from stipend. Per account thats $L300*52 weeks= $L15600 + ($L1000 sign up bonus) = $L16600 lindens per year which is currently $66.14 to buy on the Lindex.

Multiply that value by 60 avatars = $3968.4

Take that away from the original $4320 = $351.6

Then we divide per month to get the overall monthly value = 351.6/12= $29.30

    Not a bad price xD

Thanks for explaining how that works, maths is not my strong point and I had wondered how it could end up being so cheap. Unfortunately, I would probably just go shopping and spend all the lindens from my alts stipends, making the whole thing a very expensive exercise.

  18. I had to look really closely to see any difference. A lot of skin makers don't quite get the tone match exactly right between the body and the head, so it probably isn't you with the problem. Do you perhaps have some sort of shiny option turned on for the head or body that could be making them look slightly different? Some mesh bodies have a tinting panel in the HUD, that might be an option, but it would want to be some finely tuned tinting for that small amount of difference.

  19. Yes, as a premium member who wants to avoid additional tier charges, you buy up to 1024m of mainland for whatever the seller is charging. You can then use however many prims are shown in the Parcel Land Capacity section of the About Land - Objects tab. There are no extra prim usage charges for land in sims that offer double prims, which is why those parcels are so appealing and sell for more.

  20. I want land somewhere else. Istar is the next sim over from Iris, with a moderate rating. All these parcels are priced at 5L a metre.

  21. You can use standard sizing / fitmesh to start off. If you don't have a store and haven't made anything yet you are going to have a hard time getting a dev kit for one of the major mesh bodies, and even for people who are more established there can be a wait. Dev kits that are easier to get include Tonic and Kemono, there may be others too.

Omega kits are for skin and clothing appliers, they may be relevant to mesh making if, for example, you are going to make mesh bodies or heads and want to offer skins with them. If you ever need them, Omega Solutions has a marketplace store, a store in world and a website with heaps of information.
