*Runs into the thread panting and out of breath*

I was surrounded by giants today and narrowly escaped with my life! :o

Mind you - my avatar is 6.66 feet, and I'm 5'2 in RL, yet they are still towering over me.

All the owners of those extremely tall avatar owners should go in front of the mirror in RL and take a careful look how are the real human proportions.
If the avatar is very tall it's impossible in SL to get the proportions right. The arms will be too short, often the hands are too small, and the feet are too small.
And naturally there is also the "pin" head problem often seen in very tall muscular male avatars.

The CTRL-SHIFT-R method aint working apparently. I dont know how to get wireframe mode, I have firestorm.

CTRL-SHIFT-R definitely works in Firestorm. That's what I'm using.
Just keep those keys pressed simultaneously for a while. The fireframe view will appear.

You can use also use the method what Sagadin told about:
"Preferences -> Graphics -> Rendering", there's a tick box named: "Show the Scene as Wireframe"

    And there's also third method:
From the menu select: "Developer, Rendering, Wireframe"

  3. I must say that I love natural looking clothes which don't have excessive highlights and shadowing painted on them.
Flexi hairs are pretty cool when dancing and moving. Shoulder length flexi hairs work really well.

  4. If it happens when you are moving, and the line gets then worse, it might be that you are wearing some object which is mostly inside your body or head.
Check the items what you wearing first to see is there something there.

Got to wireframe mode, press CTRL-SHIFT-R so you can see is there something inside your neck area.
You can go back to normal view pressing again CTRL-SHIFT-R.

Thought you might say that so I popped in to GA real quick and snapped this pic of a sign in the applier room.

That's interesting. I got somewhere information that they were the names what I said.
Maybe it was wrong info for the first one then (i.e. Pearl vs. Petal).

Petal is the lightest shade installed in both the Lelutka heads and Maitreya body,

Petal is not installed in Maitreya.

These are the ones installed in Maitreya (as I said earlier):
Pearl, Artic, Europa, Asia, America, Jamaica, Exotic, India, Tropic and Africa

  7. Maitreya has the following Glam Affair skin tones in the HUD:
Pearl, Artic, Europa, Asia, America, Jamaica, Exotic, India, Tropic and Africa

Polar tone is not included. Maitreya body was released before Polar skin tone was created.
(This is exactly what Maitreya body creator said just yesterday.)

  8. Just my opinion: a good entertaining DJ is a must in a club. Those are the places where I'll go.
I see no reason at all to go to a club which just plays radio stations; I can listen them anywhere.

You said: "...lazers, disco ball, strobos etc."
Umm.., no thanks. In SL those are just annoying distractions to watch on monitor screen. (@_@)

But good luck if you feel that your idea works. Please report back how it goes.

    I have two regulars - very old 2004 regulars - who have never updated their body. I am sure there are more... are they in their right mind? Nope, but look at it from their POV;

As jagged as the shoulders are, as lumpy as the chest is, as undefined as the feet are - their 2004 system avatar with the exact same texture clothes they have worn for 14 years defines them.

Unless the lab wants to upset and lose these few fossils, updating the system body can only really be done if it's a full alpha of the legacy body, and an object that is added. Part of bakes on mesh might allow this, if a decent, fully adjustable mesh body with 100% bento is placed into library.

The Lab don't like breaking content. Removing the ability for fossils to look the same as they have for 14 or 15 years is just that.

So, those "fossils" are wearing system clothes. Those old system clothes can be worn on mesh bodies with Bakes on Mesh.
Most mesh bodies use system avatar UV map so they are compatible with system avatar clothes.

Nothing would prevent the upgraded system avatar to have the same UV map too. So they could use the system clothes.
No content broken. No need for "full alpha of the legacy body, and an object that is added" stuff you mentioned.

The whole idea of the upgraded system avatar is that there is no need for separate mesh body and head attachments.
That would simplify things a great deal more than what Bakes on Mesh can do.
Of course people could still wear separate mesh body/head attachments if they wanted to.
But there would be less need for those if the system avatar was excellent too.

  10. My question was:
"Are there any plans to upgrade the extremely bad ancient system avatar's shape mesh to present day standards? If not, why not?"

    /me makes a happy dance..:SwingingFriends:
Even though no active development right now, but being on the road map, waiting for resources, it's a very good sign.  :)

Naturally immediately somebody in the audience commented in chat that "It would break existing content!"

It might break some ancient stuff, but who in their right mind uses them anymore?
But for major part it won't break existing content if the system avatar's mesh upgrade is done right.
Old system clothes would work right, just like they will work on mesh bodies with Bakes on Mesh.
Mesh clothes made for system avatars most probably would work right too.

These have their issues too, but I'd still rather Linden Lab focus on making Premium Accounts (and SL overall) better.

2 hours ago, Phil Deakins said:

I can't disagree with that. I'm only addressing what the OP posted about Ebbe saying that they could possibly downgrade the Basic account.

Downgrading basics accounts seem like kind of punishment. If the existing basic accounts would remain as they are and if the new basic accounts had more limitations then there would be two classes of basic accounts. The whole idea of downgrading basic accounts is silly.

Instead of downgrading basic accounts, the premium accounts should be made more desirable.
That's the healthy way of doing things.

  12. If both tattoos are in alpha blend mode then it's not going to work. One solution is to keep one tattoo in alpha blend mode and the other tattoo in mask mode. However if the tattoo has semi transparent parts it will not look good in mask mode. If both tattoos have semi transparent parts then there is no good solution for the user for the problem you are seeing.

However, if both tattoos are made by the same creator then they could put both tattoos on same texture.
Thus you could wear that combined tattoo on single layer.
