DarkTerraform
Everytime I press the buttons for movement, there is a 3-5 second lag before I actually see my character move. What causes this and how do I fix it?
0 PeterCanessa Oh
There could be lots of causes but the most likely is that your broadband connection isn't good enough. Avoid wireless connections and, most especially, mobile ones. Next time you log in open the statistics window and check your ping and packet-loss figures. 0 Nalates Urriah
This is generally caused by a slow connection. Press Ctrl-Shift-1 to open viewwer stats. Its a toggle, so press again to close. Look for PING. That will tell you if it is your connection that is the problem. Read: Troubleshoot Your #SL Connection to learn more. If your PING is high, over 250, you'll notice the viewer being sluggish and slow to respond to your kep presses. 5,000ms is 5 seconds and you can see that kind of lag in busy regions. If you have high PING open Help-About and get the IP or server name. Then use SpeedTest.net to test to that server or at least its neighborhood. That will tell you if it is your connection of the SL server. There are other things that can cause this type of lag. So, post back in this thread if PING is not the issue.
