hot to import a skin to SL

i have all the templates and such, and i used them to make my own skin ( i do not wish to sell skins) but when i import it to sl, it comes out a little out of focus. the tats and chest hair are perfect, but maybe i used the wrong settings when importing. let me stress, i do NOT want to sell skins in competition with anyone, just want to make mine more realistic. so if anyone can guide me throught this, or tell me where i can buy a skin that i can take tp photoshop and add my tatoos and body hair, i would be MOST gratefull.......thanks

I can't help with the resolution issue but if you want to buy a skin, check the marketplace for Full-Perm Skins and then make sure it includes the textures

You need to use 512x512 textures or templates. These textures are faster and better for your second life (Lag and other stuff). Believe me, I had my own store with skins.
