Getting a weird sign after each sign in local chat

Ok...it's no big thing but it freak the hell ouyt of me...let me show you an example of my local chat

now....what i'd like to know....where do the brackets come from and how do i get rid of them?

It's the built-in translator.

Go to the top of the screen, click on "edit", "preferences", halfway down the list of options is "text chat", untick the box at the bottom.

Hi, I am having the same problem. That is weird you say its the translator, since ive always had it on, and never noticed it before. I thought someone attached some kinda spy thing to me, because I accepted a gesture, and thats when I noticed it.
