Shared media popups to external browser

Hey guys,

I'm trying to display a website in SL that displays PDFs. I know this is not possible, but what I was wondering is if any of you know how to get hyperlinks to open a page in the external browser?

Kind of like:

1.User opens page on shared media prim

2.User clicks link to PDF

3.External browser opens and displays PDF

I have already tried using javascript and enabling shared media pop-ups in preferences. converting the PDF to flash is not possible. I am basically trying to automate the Window button "Opens the current URL in an external web browser." on shared media

That's an individual option under each user's control.  You can't override it.  You can't even tell which browser they are using.

I know, but even when I have it enabled on the viewer, I can't get it to open pop-ups to an external browser.

Oh, I see what you mean.  Well, you could cheat.  After all, you're not really using MOAP to do anything but display the link.  So, you could forget about MOAP entriely and just write a short touch-triggered script that opens the URL with llLoadURL. You could drop a static texture on the prim face to simulate a MOAP image if you wanted to complete the cheat.

The only trouble is that there are many pdf documents and the page generates the links dynamically depending on what the user searches for. 

It there a way to pass data between a web page and an object script?
