My viewers wont open

No secondlife viewers will open for me i have gotten help and nothing has worked we have ruled out overheat, video hardware, network hardware, ram, the viewers themselves, and my ISP none of these are an issue my viewers when i click the icon nothing happens the process runs for a second then shutsdown all of the viewers do this no popups or anything simply nothing happens

Presumably you have done a clean install. If not see: Clean Install This is written for those that use multiple viewers.

You can also find the crash log in C:\Users\[windows_login_ID]\AppsData\Roaming\SeondLife\\logs\

Since it is crashing on start, the log should be short. Whatever, read from the end backward. You should see some error messages. Those can give you a clue what is happening.

If they make no sense to you, post them here. 

It would help to have some of the details about your computer. Windows? Mac? Which version? Video card and driver version. CPU and memory. In WIndows all this information can be pulled from a built in program dxdiag. Open a command line and type in dxdiag and press enter. That will give you all the tech data on your computer. I don't know if there is anything similar on Mac, but suspect there is.

You'll have to read the permalink under Marigold Devon's last post to get the everything Wolf has done and tried.  It's a tough nut and I've exhausted all I can thing off.  I'm still at the conclusion that his nVidia 310M card has failed and the autoswitching to his HD on chip video is what is trying to run SL..........and unsuccessfully.   I have not been able to find a way to force his computer to use the 310M card no matter what the graphic demand is..........in other words turn off auto-switching so that the HD on chip video won't try to take over is the card if not working (or has problems).  I'm not a laptop person and only know what I've read about the i3, i5, and i7 on chip graphics and auto-switching. 

 

I suggested he start a new thread here in Answers after he contacted his ISP.  Going to the forum for a problem like this is not a good way........we all know about the nightly spam attacked where threads go to page 5 in an hour.  Things get lost like that and, despite the awkwardness of this forum, it's better than General Discussions (even in the Technical section).  Wolf has worked pretty hard..........I would love for someone to fix it for him.
