When you sell L$, that converts them to dollars in your account.  To get the dollars out, you have to execute a Credit Trasfer request that will send your dollars to PayPal (or by wire transfer to a bank).  See >>> https://secondlife.com/my/lindex/process-credit.php   Note that it normally takes 3 to 5 business days for PayPal to process a credit transfer request.
