In the newer viewers only (where you will see both these options) -- WEAR will replace the layer or object that you are currently wearing. ADD will put the new object "on top of" or next to the items you are already wearing.

SO -- let's say you had both a sweater and a jacket (both made on the jacket layer) and you wanted to wear the jacket OVER that sweater. You would first put on the sweater and then ADD the jacket. Even though both are on the same layer, you could wear both using that system. If you chose WEAR instead of ADD for the jacket, you would end up with JUST the jacket on; the sweater would be gone.

We only have certain attachment points and you can only "wear" one item on each point.

So if you were "wearing" a shirt that was a jacket layer and wanted to also wear a sweater, vest and or coat that was a jacket layer you would need to "add" the addtional layers since the shirt was already primary

Hope that makes sense!
