You cannot login Second Life on an iPad because the application does not exist for iPad. However, you can access to the website www.secondlife.com with your browser (in this case, Safari).

I've heard the CEO here says they want to launch an iPad app version of SL, so check back from time to time on that.

They might go mobile-ready anytime.

Let's get that straight:

• You do most likely have no app on your iPad that is registered to deal with SLURLs - on your PC or Mac, your viewer registers, telling the operating system "If you hit upon a URL formed like that, passe it on to me, I know what to do." That's the reason SLURLs don't work on your iPad
• Even if you have a viewer on your iPad - and there are at least 2 - I'm not sure they register for SLURLs
• As I said, there are viewers for the iPad  - just search die AppStore(if don't already have ione). They are, however - as of today, textbased. The viewers available are third party viewes
