cannot connect to grid

I cannot connect to grid, any suggestions?

You could attempt to log in at a different location.

That's an awfully vague question.  Some things that would help others answer the question would either be a secondlife.log posted to Pastebin or a detailed description of what steps were taken to connect to the grid.  When all else fails, Eric S. Raymond has some clues as to how best to ask such a question.

That usually isn't useful if there isn't a rolling restart in play, or if the person attempting to connect has a last known location in Linden-owned land or a home in an infohub.

It is not useful trying to log in to a different location? Sometimes a region experiences difficulties or is full or inaccessible, being able to login to a different location is a way to get in. What do you mean?

Here are the first few things to do:

1. make sure you have a computer capable of running SL
2. switch it on
3. create an SL account
4. download and install an SL viewer
5. run the viewer, enter your resident name and password from step 2, click login

Oh. I just thought that suggestions were asked for. I know that sometimes certain places are inaccessible so I suggested logging into a different location. I addressed your statement in its entirety, not just the first four words. I still don't understand why suggesting to log in to a different location is not useful. It is a solution that has proved effective several times.
