Question

Im new to the game and have created an account to play. I have downloaded everything, but when I click to start the sl viewer...  it says gathering information, initializing, app frozen, server 1, try 1 try 2 ....  then just turns off.

I am on windows 7 and many posts talk about deleting caches history etc. But windows 7 does not have a documents and settings folder and such like many of the posts refer too.

Is there some other help or ideas out there that may help me play this game?

If you are using LL's V2 viewer and are on Windows 7, your cache is divided between two folders:

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\browser_profile\Cache      AND
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\SecondLife\ (Viewer version 1.23.5 (136262))

However, you shouldn't need to worry about that.  Since you have not been able to get into SL at all, your viewer has not yet built a cache file, so there's no point emptying it.  When you get a Crash Report error like that, it generally means that the viewer file itself is borked.  Maybe it was damaged somehow in downloading.  I'd suggest removing it from your system entirely (Do not simply download and install a new copy on top of this one) and then downloading a new, clean copy.

If you continue to have problems, there may be some incompatability between your computer and that viewer. (Check now to be sure that your computer actually meets LL's recommended standards and can run a viewer at all >>> https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/index.php?lang=en-US).  If that's the case, you can try installing any of the excellent third party viewers listed at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory.   In particular, the Firestorm viewer, available at http://www.phoenixviewer.com/, has many featurers in common with LL's own V2 viewer, plus some extras.
