Why are my 2 regions, which are next to each other, on separate servers?

Is your Homestead on RC Magnum & your main sim on SL Server (Main Channel)?

Basically, there was a performance bug on Homesteads & a fix added to the server deployments a week or so ago, but after a last minute change of plan, the fix was only on RC Magnum & as many Homesteads as possible were moved  there to get it,

Oskar has just posted this weeks deployments & the fix is going onto the main channel, so watch this thread http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Deploys-for-the-week-of-2011-07-25/m-p/998235/highlight/false#M1519  for confirmation that the homesteads will now all be moved back.

EDIT: If you check that link again now, Oskar has said that they will be moved back when requested, so if you want your homestead back on the main channel you will need to ask for it to be switched.
