What kind of pc and/or video card works best for ultra ?

I like the resolution but I seem to move rather slowly and sometimes crash altogether.  How much power do I need or is this just a video card issue ?

I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 GHz

3 gig RAM

32 bit operating system.

Your CPU is good enough.  You don't say what your graphics are and that would be handy for any recommendations.  You say your operating system is a 32 bit system (Windows, Linux, Mac?) which limits your usable system RAM to the 3 gigs you have now........a 64 bit OS would be better so you can get more RAM (at least 1 more gig would help.......2 or more would be ideal).  I would recommend some video cards if I knew your motherboard specs........you need PCI express X16 for a high end GPU.  Then there's the power supply necessary to run that GPU at max performance.  Internet connection speed (especially download speed) is important........1 mbps minimum).  What's your budget (that is important since a computer to run SL at Ultra requires high end hardware to have all the bells and whistles running and still maintain decent frame rates).

 

It's pretty hard to answer an open ended question like you asked.

dedicated video memory 64 mb DDR1

This is offered fwiw.  I have not run SL under a 32 bit OS.  A few years ago, I had 32 and 64 bit XP installed on the same machine.  Most programs ran noticably faster on the 64 bit OS
