Question

Posted (edited)

I'm having trouble accessing Second Life. I've tried all the firewall tweaks, windows updates, NVIDIA graphics and game driver updates. No go. Every time I open Second Life I get a white screen and it is not responding. The only thing that helps me actually log in is uninstalling and reinstalling the app (completely). I have to uninstall and reinstall every time I login. It's getting annoying.

My specs:

Alienware 15 R4
Windows 11

Device name    DESKTOP-CQ8N462
Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz   2.21 GHz
Installed RAM    16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)
Device ID    A135E2A7-C02D-4ADF-A260-4BE3E26C5763
Product ID    00325-81359-62851-AAOEM
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch    No pen or touch input is available for this display

Edition    Windows 11 Home
Version    22H2
Installed on    ‎2/‎12/‎2023
OS build    22621.3810
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1020.0

Please help!

That is really odd. I have similar hardware to yours. Does this happen to other 3d apps? If it does, your GPU might be failing to run fully. If it isn't, have you tried more recent versions of the viewer, including third party versions like Firestorm?

This post is more than a month old. Were you able to fix the problem?

Something is very wrong in the graphics subsystem.

Suggestion: Try running The Valley. It's an Unreal Engine benchmark and GPU test. It looks like a game, but it's just scenery; nothing happens. Let it run for half an hour. It displays GPU temperature; see if that goes up too much.

If The Valley will run, the GPU is unlikely to be broken.
