Land auctions list the size as 'm' not 'sqm' why is this?

A meter is a measurement of length in one direction or along 1 axis. A square meter is a measurement of area in 2 axes.

If land is 512 meters wide and 10 meters long, then:
512  x  10= 5120 square meters

Listing land as meters and not squared it makes it hard to assume how large the land really is

That's a good observation.  My guess is that whoever formatted that page ( http://usd.auctions.secondlife.com/lin/auction/auction/list/ ) wasn't paying attention during Geometry in school.  Fortunately, however, you and I know better.  It really is sq m. :smileywink:
