Easy Question, Comparing new PC to existing

I have a new PC coming. 

What's the easiest way to "objectively" compare it's actual SL performance to the old once?

Open up the viewers floater that shows FPS, etc. and compare numbers?

(The old one will be my daily driver for SL, I just want to find out is the new one any good for SL "by comparison" from checking numbers, not components like CPU and graphics card specs.)

Hmm... maybe use an alt in the old PC, yourself in the new one, then TP both you and the alt at a busy spot full of other avatars, or someplace graphically huge and dense like Mt Campion.

Then open the viewers floater in both PCs and check the numbers (FPS, connection quality etc.)
