How do I make a simple prim semi-transparent?

I am a simple builder mostly using purchased landscaping items and buildings, but I add textures and simple objects.

After trying out the new PBR release of the second life viewer I found many of my signs on walls had disappeared.   Any texture set at say 50% was gone.   I then tried to create a simple cube and found  I could only make it fully opaque at zero, or totally transparent.  Any semi-transparent texture was gone.  I managed to repair most of the signs by reapplying textures, so of which when Alpha Mode was set to nothing would go semi.

But still I cannot create a simple prim.    What am I missing here?

Are you on Mac with shadows on enabled?

There's a known issue in the latest SL Viewer release:
BUG-234724 [PBR] [Mac] Turning shadows on makes items with alpha blend textures disappear

Ah yes, I have a reasonably fast eGPU, a Radeon Vega, so I was just using graphics set at "ultra" so shadows were on.  When I turned them off, everything went back to normal.

Of course there is Apple bug.  LOL    Thanks, it was making me nuts trying to fix it.  I have been looking at those little Beelink Mini PC's I am so tired of Apple bugs in SL.  The Beelink comes with the same graphics as my Mac so should be fine.
