0 Venus Petrov
It is against ToS to publish in SL or on an SL forum the IMs you have with others. Ignore the disclaimers people have in their profiles. They can no more publish IMs than you can.
0 Nyll Bergbahn
Not quite sure exactly what you mean but publication of an IM without the author's permission is prohibited by Linden Lab's TOS. If you have the author's permission (and I suggest you get this writing not verbal), then yes, you can publish it. EDIT: Going to get typing lessons so I can type faster. 0 Nalates Urriah
The SL Terms of Service (TOS) say one should not publish chats or IM's without permission from all parties. However, there is nothing else that prevents one from doing that. Since few people read the ToS, you may need to point that out to the one publishing them, include a link to the ToS and quote the section. The fix for cases where they deliberately ignore the ToS is to file an Abuse Report (AR). Top menu HELP -> Report Abuse. The Rules of Evidence from RL are pretty much in effect in SL. You need to supply supporting evidence for any abuse you report. Pictures, chat logs, and links to posts are helpful. One must remember that pictures can be Photoshop'd, chat logs can be changed, and it may be difficult to tie an avatar name from in-world to a forum post name. Also, there are groups that team up to game the AR system. So, multiple complaints from multiple people, while adding credibility, are not the end all be all of evidence. It is very hard to substantiate some claims. The SL teams handling AR's are a skeptical as any RL judge or cop. The point of all this being that one should not be surprised if the SL team is skeptical or slow to act. The second point is there is very little one can actually do to enforce the ToS when Linden Lab for whatever reason takes no action. So, consider that and act accordingly. If you don't want what you chat or IM in print, don't chat or IM it.
0 Venus Petrov
Prove that someone used your IMs? Well, only if you see it published somewhere or someone else says they were shown or given IMs. Very hard to prove.
