chat enhancers, are they not a violation of terms of service themselves?

I was visitin my boyfriend (of sl) at his rental and saw someone fitting a chat enhancer under his house. Arguement ensued but they claim to reserve the right to monitor all chat to prevent such things as child porn beastiality etc. But are these recordings themselves a terms of service violation when all visitors are not notified of such, even if the renter ( shops and private homes) technically agree to it.

 

Reply to the one comment.. and thankyou for responding btw.. having read the terms of service regarding disclosure remote monitoring of chat is prohibited unless they inform everyone. The only people subject to the use of chat enhancers are residents of the sim who agree to it in the rules of the sim, no one else.. ie just visitors are not informed of the decision but because I have kicked off about it they will now use notecard givers to inform all residents they reserve the right to monitor. Either way I am now banned from all their sims when technically they broke the Terms of Service themselves in the first place as I threatened to report them for illegally monitoring my conversations

I don't know if the device itself is against the TOS, but disclosing chat and IM logs IS agains the TOS.

If you are unsure of the device or the owner of the place, perhaps moving to a different place is best?

Just use IM, local chat is not private.
