Is there a way to change the scaling of an accessory within 3DS Max to prevent the model from importing stretched?

Hello there, I'm a tad confused with what I'm doing, so I'll try to explain this best as possible.

I made a small accessory, I've actually made a few but this is the first time I've ran into this issue. I'm aware from research the smallest size on each axis you can make a prim or mesh is 0.010 meters. However due to this, my model now appears stretched on the Y Axis as I can't change the size being at it's smallest already. My question is there a way to change the scaling within max to prevent the model from importing stretched?

I have no idea why my previous models imported fine but all my recent models are stretched.

I apologise if I'm not making the most sense.

I attached a plane in the axis that I cant edit, made it a separate material and turned the transparency to 100%.

Instead of using a plane to increase the objects BB dimensions, you could use a triangle. Aand instead of giving it a separate material etc you could snap one vertex of the triangle to another vertex of the same triangle creating a degenerate triangle. This degenerate triangle (looks like a single edge) will not be visible when the object is rezzed inworld so no need for the extra material.

Another method that works in Blender but I don't know how it would be done in 3Dmax is to use a single vertex ........ see this earlier post where the Bounding box of a little button is increased using this method.

To go more in depth with explanations:

  • Second Life doesn't trust creators to upload models with a sane bounding box or point of origin for meshs (understandable)
  • Objects in SL cannot be smaller than 1x1x1cm.

What @Aquila Kytoriis doing is essentially adding a piece of invisible geometry that makes your object's bounding box larger than it would normally be.

As with everything, use your best judgement on how big the new bounding box should be and no more than that.
