The messages that you are getting when you try to buy land are probably telling you to increase your Tier level.

You can own 512sqm of land "tier -free" as part of the Premium membership. Some people use that allowance to have a Linden Home. If you decide to buy more land you will need to pay a monthly tier fee, the bigger the land the higher the tier fee.

You can see on this page the amounts: https://secondlife.com/my/account/landfees.php if you set your tier level at the monthly amount that you want to pay, you can then buy land and if you try to buy land that is too big it will send you that message saying you need to increase your tier level to buy that one.

Remember that you will always be able to own 512sqm without paying any tier fee, the charges are for "additional" land.
