DNS not resolving host name

I am having this problem, even making an alt will not let me login to both Second life viewer 2 and BETA.

 

Login failed.

DNS could not resolve the host name.

Please verify that you can connect to the www.secondlife.com web site. If you can, but continue to recive this error, please go to the support section and report this problem.

I am trying to logg in in from "home"

I have gone through the troubleshooting options and have in fact put in a ticket for getting it out of the gutter... anyone have any ideas what might be the problem?

I got this error too with the new viewer 2.6.3. Until LL fixes that, there's a workaround : add the following additional DNS servers to your DNS settings :

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I'm having this problem with the newest viewer for Mac, and it won't let me use my old version to log in, it tries but tells me to download the newer one.  I'm not sure how to use those instructions or DNS settings to fix things on a Mac.

From the Dock or your Applications folder, double-click the System Preferences icon. Click the Network icon then the Advanced button. Choose the DNS tab. Click on the Add button under the DNS servers window then enter the first adresse. Click the Add button again for the second adresse.

It works for me. I hope this will be the same for you.

This is not working for me. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong.

 

ETA: I switched to Basic mode and now I'm in, finally! Thanks for the tip.

ETA (again): I switched to Advanced mode and login was successful. I think I just needed to restart the viewer.

Im using the new

Firestorm Current Version: 4.0.1 (27000)  and having DNS issues..Cant resolve the name.

  I can log in after i reboot my computer but then it crashes.  UGh its very fustrating.. I added the exe files to the new security firewall and all..

 

Using 32 bit Windows 7
