Open the General tab in group's profile and then UNcheck the box that says Receive Group Notices.  If you also want to avoid getting e-mails, UNcheck the Receive Group Instant Messages  box too. You're getting e-mails, of course, because you have set your viewer to forward ALL IMs to e-mail when you are not in world.  You can change that on your dashboard, if you wish.
