I want to release mainland but from about window the abandon button is disabled

If you directly own the land (not group owned/deeded), the Abandon Land button should always be available (but lag or other viewer/region issues might break it sometimes).

If it's group-owned land (deeded to group), you can only abandon it if you're either an owner of the group or have sufficient abilities granted to you by a group owner.  You can remove any tier contribution you've made to the group by setting your contribution to 0 (remember to do this after abandoning, as it's not automatic and will result in tier charges even if the group owns no land).

Try relogging, and check your Internet connection isn't causing excessive packet loss.  After that, make sure you are stood on the land in question, open the About Land window, then try again (note that the About Land window sometimes de-selects the land based on other things, so try it just after opening that window).

If it is a Linden Home, they fit very tightly up to the borders of the plot, make sure that you are actually on your plot and not outside on the common land between the houses.

You can get to About Land from the world menu or by clicking the "i" on the browser bar while standing in your house, if there isn`t enough visible land around the house to right-click.
