Updated my Mac to the new operating system Sierra. Now I crash constantly.

It's a recognized problem, and not just in SL.  That Mac OS has a bug that Apple is going to have to fix.  Until then, you can apparently work around it by downloading and installing NVidia drivers instead of using the ones provided by Apple.  See http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/mac_sierra
