Question

My wife just bought an ASUS laptop with an Intel I7 6700 processor and an nVidia GTX 960 M gpu. GPU drivers are up to date. While in game and walking in certain locales, the screen begins to flash and tear, and resembles an abstract painting. Turning in place fixes the problem but as soon as she moves it happens again. Any help would be appreciated.

On your wife's system, in the top menu bar of the viewer, go to Help -> About Second Life / viewer name.

What is listed there as graphics card and graphics driver version?

I suspect the problem is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-10819 & the viewer is actually using the Intel graphics rather then the Nvidia & if the Intel drivers are out of date, there will be severe screen flashing around any rigged mesh using alpha blended textures.

Updating to the latest Intel graphics driver will fix the problem when running the viewer on the Intel card.

She should also choose to run the viewer using the Nvidia graphics card as this will give much better performance anyway.
