I get a strange message on the land I rent "You cannot sit because you are not allowed on that land"

I rent the land and it is all paid up. Even visitors get the message, it appears as a box in the UI with an OK button. Any idea what this is? I do not get it anywhere else except where I'm renting...and then, well, everyone is getting it on the same property

You will need to contact the person you are renting the land from and let them know.  They can correct the permissions for you.
