Other sites?

Second Life isn't a website, it's a virtual world. This requires far more Internet bandwidth than loading up a single website, playing an online game, or just about anything else you can think of.

Linden Lab have previously stated that it's not unusual for Second Life to require the same bandwidth and intensity through your hardware as THIRTY Web browser tabs at once. It'll drive your network harder than multiple torrents, webpages and online games - all at once.

Feel free to troubleshoot your connection, but not all Internet links (or the hardware on your network) are guaranteed to work for Second Life. Given that you're using a work Internet connection, it's probably shared between many users (meaning you don't get much allowance), it's unlikely that Second Life will work for you while you're at work.
