Question

We have land were there are two skyboxes ...we have it so you cant see anyone next door..plus some of the areas yet it effects other parts like on main land and other boxes..is there a way to just make the sky box that way and not the rest of the land.. Is there a manual for dealing with land ?

Amethyst is right that you can't set JUST the skybox to private...privacy is a land setting, and like all land settings, it affects everything in the sky above the parcel.

However!

You CAN subdivide just the land that the skybox is over and set THAT to private.  To make sure you have selected just the right bit of land, try this:

  • Rez a tall "fence post" type prim at each corner of your skybox platform, or just outside the walls of your skybox.  Or rez one big flat platform prim that is the size of your skybox.
  • Select all the marker posts, or the flat prim, and in the Edit box, change the Z position value to oh, about 25 meters, or whatever will put them just above the surface of your land parcel.
  • Go back to ground level.
  • Use the marker posts or your flat prim as a guide to select the bit of land under your skybox, using the Edit Terrain/Select tool.  (NOTE:  If you find that part of your skybox is over someone else's land...move it!)
  • Click the Subdivide button in About Land.
  • Go to the Options tab in About Land.  UNcheck the "avatars outside this parcel can see and hear..." box.

Now your skybox (and all the space above and below it, right down to the ground) will be private.
