Possible Copy?

Last week I bought a cute short/blazer/shirt outfit from an inworld store. Today I got the list of 55Linden Thursday items and the SAME outfit is listed for another store...is this a mesh template that they both bought? They are exactly alike down to the little 'pulled out' bottom edge of the shirt on the right side of the outfit. Both come with HUDs to change colors but the HUDs are different and one has more color choices.

Are they copies or templates that both designers purchased?  Thanks for your answers.

How would we know? This is the worst forum for trying to determine copies, the forum rules expressly prohibit naming merchants who might be guilty of poor behaviour.

Buying pre-built meshes is increasingly popular. There aren't enough original mesh artists around to fuel the economy, I guess. Certainly not enough for everyone to be producing their own.

Worth bearing in mind that only the original creator of an object can report something as copied. If you're in doubt, check with them.

From what I've seen almost all of the clothing from "$$ Weekday" events is from templates (with the exception of Fifty Linden Fridays). Templates are so common and comparatively inexpensive these days that I doubt any clothing maker who takes the risk exposure of having an in-world store or being in an event would try copybotting.

Keeping the head down has a tendency to haunt someone, it bothered you enough to post about it on the forums. A quick note with a link to the creator would be enough...from there on it's their bussiness. I'd say raise your head.

THere are a lot of full perm templates with textures provided. Some "creators" just use it as is and sell it without personalizing it. Others of us that use them use it as a base and then texture it to suit our preferences. You'll see a lot of Meli Imako templates, for instance.
