The slider bars do not work when editing appearance.

The slider brs don't work when I try to edit my avatar's appearnce. I was on here a few years ago so I am familiar with how things are supposed to work. I tried using my old avatar on my new computer and I just appeared as a ghost. I would just like to be ble to edit my new avatar like I did my old one!

When you ask a tech question include information about your computer and viewer. If the viewer will at least show the login screen, get the info from the viewer's Help-About... and paste that into your post with your question. Help->About... provides all the version numbers we need.  To add your info to an existing question use OPTIONS->EDIT. It’s in the upper right of your post.

It also helps to know if you are using a laptop or a desktop and a wired or wireless connection.

Without that information all we can do is guess. That means you have to try all our bad guesses and eliminate them one by one. This is easier for all of us, if you give us good information to start with.

Also, check that your computer meets the System Requirements | Second Life.

You won't be able to edit appearance until after your avatar renders. If it is remaining a particle cloud, you need to change your avatar to one of the library or starter avatars. Once you see an avatar render you should be able edit appearance.

Or you can try creating a new shape for the avatar. That often breaks the block and the avatar renders.

Also, check your connection to SL, which is not the same as your general Internet connection. You can have a great Internet connection and a horrible SL connection. See: http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/

Depends when you started you might had the bad luck and got one of the avatars with no modify rights. Choose again and the best is to choose one of the classic avatars from "Me" "Choose an Avatar". From there you can start and change anything you want. Also you should be able to fix the cloud issue with the older account. Try once also a complete change of the avatar and it should appear again after some time. If that is fixed, you can simply switch back.
